It is pto time.
Everything pto/sick/vacation all in one pot.
If you get a vacation award they take 25 hours of pto but pay you for 35.
It could be a lot better but you do start getting pto the first day in Orlando.
It's a hot topic from the company not putting out enough slots during summer and holidays to the way we bid for it, let's just say it's great to be senior.

I have to agree with the guy above, that's an excellent way to live. However, please don't take my sarcastic views or disappointment in jbs operations at times as a sign that I'm some how an unhappy person!
I think I've been encouraging to most here that want to come to jetblue. But I have no problems pointing out our flaws either.
The question was really more a poke for any in tell coming from management as they give their schpiel at the school house.
So for being happy, I'm not doing too bad, I haven't flown 75hrs yet this year. I enjoy my kids and wife who brings home a 6 figure salary and play with the dog. Life isn't too shabby.
Professionally, I'm keeping my options open because I've still got 30 yrs to go until i retire and I owe myself that option.
I'm sure you'll enjoy working here I have. This isn't a bad spot to be. However there's room for improving andi hope we've taken the correct steps in making that happen.
Seriously bud, want trying to Crap on your parade.

The way I've done it (since I'm junior, so all the cushy weeks are gone by the time it gets to me) is NOT bid vacation. That way, when I get my schedule, I an often PTO around large blocks of days off. I've gotten two weeks off fairly easily that way, both as a lineholder and on reserve. Bad part about doing it this way is you're kinda rolling the dice on the reserve grid favoring you. I've managed to pull it off in the first PTO/drop/swap window almost every time. Wait longer than that, and odds are pretty good the reserve grid won't be green anymore.

Hey, no worries man! I didn't take it personally at all. I was just concerned that maybe you (and very possibly some others) were starting to not be able to see the forest for the trees. I promise I will try to make that my one and only Sensei speech. We will now resume your regularly scheduled programming.

Na man that's good fungshwie... How the #%€¥ do you spell that?

If you can, save up over 100hrs. Uto/UTS when you must. Sell back at 150%. Make the most of it.
Hopefully this system will be irrelevant in short order with the introduction of a proper vacation and separate sick system.

I'd bet if we go with a separate pool for vacation, we'll probably lose the 150% sell back option on PTO. Give and take in negotiations, I guess.

Ok, but how many PTO/sick/vacation hours do you get and how often? Do they just give you a set number at the beginning of each year to simulate vacation? Does it vary with longevity?
My company has the typical 1/2/3/4 weeks after x/y/z amount of years of service.... So I'm just trying to understand the jetblue equivalent to that

Thanks!

Accrual does vary with longevity, but that will change in the next contract guaranteed. So no need to worry what the 10 year guys accrue at.
