How many people do you think will be willing to shell out $125k to the company (in addition to all the college debt they've racked up) to sit right seat in the 190?

Also, why does the union really care how the company gets employees as long as they meet FAA mins? They'll be getting dues From them regardless, right?

Because we have to fly with them.

FAA mins are just that. Mins. Is that all the company as a major airline aspires to?

I believe it's more to do with the 1,000's of other pilots that are beyond "qualified" and knocking on the door over and over again....

Not sure that it has to do with 0-1500 hours.

I know at least 8 people that want to work for us... One of them has 737,767 CA time. And he's sub 30... Not one bite. (Keep, he will leave for DAL, UAL, AAL comments) this more has to do with the qualified applicants that's should be hired..

Does the union have the ability deny anyone in the other pathways from being hired on as a pilot?

Not sure but I hope so. This program stinks to high heaven and if you don't think you'll be alienated right off you're kidding yourself. 1500 hour mins are the minimum allowed and like I said before I will not babysit your ass. And I don't mean you as in you but anyone wanting to skip the experience.

Nope, they have zero say in how/who gets hired.

I doubt the union has the ability to stop this. I agree on the smelliness of the program though.
I wonder if the program participants, assuming they are new to aviation have thought of, or are aware of the potential alienation. Hopefully the word will get out and they'll rethink their choice before it's too late.
