Staffing isn't an issue right now but The company is obviously concerned about long term staffing issues. The pilot shortage is hitting the lower paying regionals now. Barring some sort of economic depression it will hit the ULCCs then JB.
Pilots leaving for the better paying legacies only help your argument for better pay and QOL because the company fears the pilot shortage will hit them eventually.
Happy and content pilot groups don't get paid more money. Every pilot I know at JetBlue is happy but you guys threw a large vote of no confidence by unionizing so hopefully you can leverage that into more money but unionizing is a one trick pony. Once it the newness wears off then you'll need another source of leverage.
Management has no incentive to pay you more as long as pilots stay at the company and pick up open time. Why pay you more when you're happy with what you make now so much that most of you stay and you're even willing to work open time at the rates they pay you now?
The union needs to be citing every example of someone leaving the company, where they went and what that company pay scale is. If the losses are small management will argue that they're obviously paying you the right amount. If the losses are large you have better ability to argue that your pay is sub standard and they'll be left without a chair when the music stops and the hiring shortage hits.

The argument for more pay and better QOL will be shut by these guys even willing to pay to be here.
The union would not be really unified because those guys would be willing to take less, and move on, and the company would spend save money spending less on senior guys. Remember cost more money to pay a senior pilot than train a new guy. Especially if the new guy is not willing to push hard for a good long term contract.

P.S. I used to think an ab-initio program would have no effect on a pilot group union effort. But after being here for a while, and hearing other pilots talking of this place as a stepping stone, I realized how important it is to be unified in goals and prospectives.

Yes, you can still upload rec letters, but when the company pulls your app they will not see it, or anything else you upload after the app is submitted. The only real benefit is that if you reapply in the next window, the letter will be there waiting for you (i.e. you won't have to re-upload it).

Hey, look at that - a question in the "jetBlue Hiring" thread about jetBlue hiring!!!!

Reserve guarantee of 75 hours at $49.56/hour= $3717 x 10 months= $37,170+$4000=$41,170
Your W-2 will probably show at least 5% less than that based on what you put into your 401k. It should be at least 5% to get the company match. You'll also get per diem when you get assigned a trip but that won't be reflected on your W-2 either.
Everything changes if you get a line. But I've heard reserve is running close to a year in most bases.

Airport’s #1 Airline Kicks Off Next Phase of Growth by Announcing Flights to New Orleans and More Service to Nassau, Bahamas
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- JetBlue (NASDAQ:JBLU) today announced it is further growing its presence at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) with plans to operate an average of 140 daily flights in the winter in the coming years. The expansion will result in roughly 75 percent growth from the carrier’s current size at its South Florida focus city.
As part of JetBlue’s ongoing expansion the airline is adding new nonstop service to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) and increasing the number of flights to Nassau, Bahamas’ Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS). The airline will now operate nonstop flights to 46 destinations from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood. More flights and new nonstop destinations are set to be announced later this year.
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce the next phase of our growth at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport,” said Marty St. George, executive vice president commercial and planning at JetBlue. “JetBlue is the number one airline in Fort Lauderdale not only because of our size, but also because we deliver the very best experience to our customers with our award-winning service and style. We served more than five million customers in Fort Lauderdale last year and they have come to expect nothing but the best when they travel with JetBlue. With things like assigned seating, unlimited free name-brand snacks and complimentary TVs and entertainment at every seat we have truly brought humanity back to air travel in South Florida.”
Added service at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood comes as JetBlue continues to upgrade its home at Terminal 3. JetBlue also plans to link Terminals 3 and 4 for seamless international connections and offer more retail and dining options for customers.

Hey Guys,
I can't seem to find any current data on retirements at Jetblue.
Is there a list somewhere you can guide me to. Also, what is the best guess of how long a new hire today will be able to upgrade?
Thanks for any and all information.
