Giving an FO a VIL doesn't help cut costs when CA's are overstaffed.....
You forget the pilot prime directive though, "Its all about me!"

Is this is in reference to the people who want VILs or those that don’t care that they’re gone? Because the only people crying on bp and the farm are those who want to sit at home for another year.

Yes. Imagine guys want to sit home and get paid North of $200k a year.

“BUT YOU COULD MAKE MORE MoNEY on THE LiNE!”

I’ll sacrifice the $100k if it means I never have to show up and do whatever it is that I want. Keep in great health, sleep, eat well.

Exactly how did denying the VILs for pilots benefit the pilot group in general? Those who stayed home enjoyed their QOL. Also, it meant they didn't bid a line so some line holders got better lines, a few pilots who would have been on reserve might get a junior line now, etc. Seems like a win/win. Also, exactly what leverage has the pilot group gained by this chest puffing maneuver other than a few reps able to beat their chest and tout they stood up to the Man. GMAFB.

If you don't think the company is determined to continue cost cutting measures you're not paying attention. Let's see how tough the reps act if the company sends out warn notices. I swear we can't get out of our own way sometimes.

You say that like it’s a dumb thing to want. Not everyone has a miserable home life, you know.

I’m with the Union on this. What about the Jr guys that might get some weekends off without VIL’s? VIL’s benefit a select few people and the company. If the company needs them that bad because of their own poor decision making, then we’re gonna be in BK sooner than I expected. How is paying guys 200k to sit at a home a good business model? Gbsm. If the company wants to
work something out via an LOA, I’m all for it.

Exactly how does a junior guy get weekends off if there are more senior guys that are probably bidding them that could have been out of the way on a VIL. Also paying guys 200K to sit at home is cheaper than paying them $350K to work. You're overestimating the leverage this self back-patting move creates.

I’m not saying we have a ton of leverage or anything, but I’m also not saying we should b doing it for free either. We shouldn’t even have these. This was a Covid thing. We got guys out here publicly going against the union when the company continually shows bad faith in just about everything they do. SMH.

I also wonder how many of you guys would cross a picket line if it came to it. Probably a much higher number than I could even stomach.

Careful with that line of thinking. Soon you’ll be up at night worrying about how many of your coworkers might pee in your coffee if given the chance… or fart on your seat when you’re taking a break or something.
