At Mesa we just showed up at the gate. It wasn't an issue. Big boy rules for airline professionals. Electronic check in will absolutely not change a thing for flight delays. By the time they realize you aren't checked in (with the 10 minute buffer), go through the process of calling and locating you, it is no different than the old policy of just showing up. I don't care what Delta's policy is with regards to signing in. Theirs is retarded too. I've never in my career seen a plane late due to a crewmember being late, and in the rare event it happens, the check in policy wouldn't have prevented or mitigated it. One time at Mesa I showed up to the airport, realized my ID was at my house, called crew scheduling, told them I was there but had to run back to my house and to let the CA know I'd be there 10-15 prior to push. They said thanks for the heads up, I showed up, we pushed early. No late on my record, no harm, no foul. No call from the chief pilot, no email, no carpet dance. Mesa, of all places, has this check in and big boy rules down better than JetBlue.
My favorite on reserve, 2 hour call out.
I get to the plane and my phone rings. Captain, yes we show you have not checked in, why not. Um I just talked to you 2 hours ago of course I'm here.
That one made me laugh but I guess it's one rule for everyone, btw we were late anyway so it didn't even matter they were sitting around waiting for me since they sent the other Captain to do something else.

I agree with all of this. I believe in the group of ALPA volunteers and the work they are doing. I go to the meetings, I read the emails including committee updates. This why I ask many how they can't see it's getting better?
I see the progress in so many area that many choose not to look or acknowledge. The MEC and the negotiating committee are busting their butts to take advantage of any opportunity and to be prepared should any present themselves. Sure we cannot see the work the(negotiating committee) they are doing and it will be in the form of a CBA. You gotta love the team all good dudes and highly qualified!
Getting Better...
plenty of grievances and clarifications of FSM language that will help the pilots QOL and wallet. Including ATRdrivers Contract above all roller board handles
We got a raise during negotiations and although it's not the final one for sure its' more than we had last year.
ALPA Reps doing outstanding work on behalf of the pilots
Plenty of ALPA Committees doing outstanding work on all fronts. Read the updates and tell me I'm wrong...
Vets in Blue initiatives
We Jetblue ALPA Pilots are involved and helping our fellow brethren in almost every facet of our jobs to make a positive difference.
The Final will be a CBA which will be BETTER and not worse than were we stand today......

If you are so entrenched with the union, why do you constantly sound like you're advocating for the company?
You're a puzzling guy HB.

This is stating how it MAY get better. We are all aware of the hard work from the committees but you are being evasive when you say it IS getting better- It has not, and as stated by Bunker, it was not a pay raise, it was typical B6 BS giving with one hand and taking with the other.

I get what you are saying but you can be pro company and pro union.
Sometimes it seems like it has to be a choice on here. Some committees like hims or pro stands really need the company to be effective. I'm just saying it's not black and white. I want the company to do great and I think some stuff they do is good but I think some stuff is bad, so much so that I voted yes. I am also pro union but I know ALPA has its flaws and also needs to be watched. To me it seems like in life we try to put everyone in a perfect little box and that just does not work.
I will say HB argument was really about how the union keeps getting better not the company. I wouldn't say the company keeps getting better. We are in negotiations so it's a land grab change as much as you can and make us negotiate for what we just had. Do I like it no but it was expected. Nothing is really going to change till we get a CBA sadly.

I hope most of us are pro union/healthy company, but he said "it keeps getting better" and was referring to life at B6- Thats a steaming pile of BS. Glass half full or empty, lets remain accurate- sound like a plan?

Have you read his posts Payne? Go back and read the posts again. Hes praising the company and playing the " Great Defender" time and time again. That is absolutely fine.

We disagree on a few things. I was really pointing out that he didn't prove us point that the company keeps getting better. What he showed is we needed a Union and that part is getting better.

It's INSULTING to suggest things "keep getting better" when they aren't improving at all, and in some cases have become worse. It's insulting. Sorry if he needs to tell himself that to make himself feel better, but it isn't helpful to prospective applicants who are looking for a realistic view of how things actually are here.
Example... he praises our "raise" earlier this year. It wasn't a raise. Between profit sharing being gutted and compensating for COLA, it was break even at best. He posts glowing Corporate Comm press releases about how great it is to work here. Etc etc. And then he makes personal jabs (particularly at me, and particularly inaccurate ones at that) and wraps himself in the ALPA flag. Very puzzling and offensive. So that's where the push back comes from.
Hopefully prospective applicants take hyper's posts with a grain of salt, as if they're coming from the hiring department. Because they sort of sound like they are. Hmm.
