JetBlue Latest and Greatest

I still bet they increase the budget for VDAs instead of staffing more pilots per airplane going forward.

funny how earnings calls only seem to mention "costs associated with the newly unionized pilots' contract". i take it no financial reporters read this board, and know nothing of the pathetic way that jetblue operates? if they did, it would seem like some of them would ask questions about this. what questions should they ask?
1. why is crew services not a cost center? they can spend a million dollars to crew just one flight, and they are happy because the flight is not cancelled. then flight ops is stuck with a million dollar "minus" on their balance sheet.
2. over the past 3 months/6 months/9 months, how much extra has jetblue paid for staffing flights with pilots, compared to how much they would have paid if the airline were staffed with an appropriate number of people and had better operational procedures in place?
what else?

Costs flat to down, RASM up. Happy investment community.

Once they activate global and premium open time, VDAs will become virtually a thing of the past. Will they still be there, sure, but much more rare than what they're paying out now.

No idea. Obviously they always want minimum staffing, just depends if it ever costs more because they have less pilots. I certainly never expect us to be over staffed but when you put out RSAs everyday there is a problem. I think they are slowly fixing it but are definitely behind.

Yup and an unhappy workforce. That’s always the disconnect, but you are right Wall St only cares about costs and profit, don’t blame them for that. This is where I still think the PS was a big mistake. It has completely disconnected the workforce from the ELT. Great your costs are down and profits are up, but you won’t share......so motivating.

is that why our stock does so well? my point is, our costs wouldn't be so high if they ran a more efficient operation. they do it on purpose. but why? that's why there is always speculation that we're trying to get bought. but it can't just be accidental incompetence.
