I have a feeling the 190 is going to stick around a while longer than forecasted...

Does anyone know if they are re-painting the 190s? I swear I saw a 190 the other day with the new “highrise” tailfin and what looked like a fresh coat of paint. Why paint them if you are going to replace them anyway? Unless it is one of the 30 we own and plan to keep longer?

What do you define as west? We Fly to BUF, ROC, SYR. ALOT! That’s west of JFK.

The rockies and westward. Looks like Airbus is the only option to fly out there. So I guess I have to decide between fumes and desirable flying.

After years of dirty sock smell at my regional I’m fairly certain I’m immune to it. Enough so that it doesn’t warrant me bidding off the bus.

Interesting... most folks pick a plane (if they have a choice) based on QOL (movement, commute, base, etc). Each plane has it’s own Pros and Cons, it the end, the majority of flying here sucks, mostly because of the schedules we fly, like 1 flight a day from a west coast city, and it is usually a redeye, or 2/3am departures from some sh!thole island.

Lol. I take my health pretty seriously so when I hear about pilots dying and losing their medicals I think twice about my choices.

The 190 has fumes, every pressurized turbine aircraft has this issue except the 787 due to the way its pressurised. The fumes are only a real problem if you choose to not don O2 and shut down the offending source. School yourself on the cause and you should be fine.

The problem was that for a very long time people were told it was a wet pack, moldy filter or some other nonsense so they didnt protect themselves when it happened.

Also, the radiation is a much larger risk. Pick the plane you want to get cooked in.

IAE Airbus are MUCH more problematic. Look at the frequency of the reports compared to the E190. I've been on both, no comparison.

The engine oil pressure on the IAE has an engine oil PSI of 250+. What's the E190?

Bluedriver, my only question is- if it is such a major problem as you say it is, why do you stay on the Airbus? Is higher pay and better trips worth your health?
