Ahhhh this is the stuff I come to APC and The Farm for, people opining on contract items of which they haven't even read the details.
I guess it is hard to see what NYC 190 would realistically operate considering the current level of flying. 190 only operates JFK-SYR/ROC/ACK/MVY/BOS/ORH. What would you envision it operate in the future to justify a base vs having BOS based 190 pilots fly through and cover?

I dont see much of a path forward for 60 190s in the fleet lasting until we get 220s to replace them. We would need a drastic increase in business travel demand. The only case I could see is the FAA not extending the slot usage waiver for JFK/LGA/DCA and forcing everyone to use it or lose it after October 24th. If airlines are forced to squat on slots then yes we should keep the fleet around and fly JFK-DCA-LGA and back all day just to cover the slots.

190’s will disappear out of BOS and JFK first. On the last system bid the BOS base already shrunk. I realize things have changed since then but the one thing to actually be hurting the most is business travel. The 190’s in BOS are all targeted at business routes. The 220 is also slated to go to BOS first. Or at least it was.

The MCO base also serves as a reserve base for the entire state. I have taken limos from mco to every single city we serve in Florida.

Hmmmm.....Are you based in MCO?

I could see all Florida 190 flying either cut or upgauged to 320s to be honest.

this was my thought. 190s out of fla. Mco jfk shift to bos for hi freq business. Not sure what they’ll do with the SDQ shuttle but I think the 190 in mco days are numbered.

I'd think atleast 2 or 3 220s to be on property up and running before 1 or 2 190s status switches from temporarily to permanently parked.

I'm thinking many of the 190's are already permanently parked they just haven't made it official.

Wouldn't be surprised to see displacements into the 320 AND the 220 come August, with 220 training dates that coincide with arrivals of airframes. OR, if we have to resort to involuntary actions, 41 190's are parked, that's a decent number of pilots.

As others have said, look at the current 190 flying to get a sense of what the remaining airframes might cover until they too are gone. I'm a RIC commuter and for July that's been swapped out to 1X daily on a 320. I expect that for a long time. I could even see some of the shuttle flights going to less frequency. Let's be honest, 12 flights a day to DCA with a little weather thrown in is a borderline disaster anyway.

Possibly, but let's not forget we are going to have only 8 scheduled A220 by end of 2021 (which is when we will pessimistically be back to full pre-covid schedule, says Robin). We don't want to pull down too aggressive then end up not having enough airplane to grab market share when the opportunity show it's head. Remember pre-COVID? Having to lease Airbus due to slow deliveries. Yes we can probably ask Airbus to change delivery schedule to bring on more 220s for 2021 but that will still take time if they can even do it. 1 for 1 still sounds better imo, and makes us more flexible to our current ever changing environment. But hey, if it makes money sense for them to drag them down early (mx cost on engine) then watevs

Current flying isn't really a good metric to use in comparison. Routes aside, with the seat blocking thing going on they can only sell about half of a 190 but about 2/3 of a 320.

You mention JFK, but there's also many flights from HPN/EWR/LGA/SWF consider. Eventually that flying will come back and those stations have quite a bit of 190 flying.

190 scheduling/staffing isn't going to be based on June 2020. It will be based on 2021 and beyond (assuming the airline doesn't shrink post-2021 with the 190s retired early as a result).

you leave those dc flights alone.
But maybe 6 a day on the bus would be good. Use the other slots for something else.
