Yes. Your 13/14 days off per month are hard.... It is a rare occurrence that someone gets home late here. There is NO involuntary extension beyond your last day without your approval. They don't like it sometimes... but if you stand fast they will get you home. You WILL travel on day ZERO to be in position by 5z on day 1 however. YMMV as to when you have to leave home to make that happen.

As for how long Initial Training ran, I started on December 14th, flew my first flight in the B747-400 during IOE on the 11th of February. That was with the week between Christmas and New Years off.
Basically, read the manuals as soon as you have access to them. Watch the training CBTs (computer based training) as soon as you have access to them too. Week one in class is indoc with the GOM. Then you have about a week to do the CBTs. Week two in class is systems with an oral at the end. Week three is already in the FTD, ending with a procedures eval. Week four is in the sims with a maneuvers eval at the end of that week. Finally, week five is lofts, with the final checkride (the LOE) at the end. It is fast, so you need to make good use of your time.

It is what makes you feel comfortable. I see people showing up in suits, and some in collared shirts with no tie. I personally would not feel comfortable unless I was in a suit. Perhaps that is not true for you? Nobody cares what you wear as long as it is clean. Again, wear what you are comfortable in. There is no motive behind the business casual thing. It is not a test. If they asked you up for an interview, they want to hire you. Just show up, be on your best behavior, and relax. Failing the sim ride is a line in the sand, so if you are not current get on a desktop sim and get your scan together. The interview is a meet and greet kind of thing. I hope this helps.

I wore slacks and a collared shirt, no tie. Other guy in interview wore a suit. Both of us got hired, so just wear whatever you're comfortable in, within reason.
