I'm furloughed. I've got bills to pay. I don't have a job right now. But I am still not going to apply at GoJet.

The trick to being furloughed is planning ahead. I knew I was going to be furloughed so I put myself on the "Ramen" diet and saved every penny I got. Now I have enjoyed a couple of weeks off, I am going back to school, and I got myself another flying job lined up other than GoJet.

Anyone who goes to GoJet and uses the "I gotta pay bills and feed my family" excuse is full of it.

I am glad you have found another flying gig. Now you have the luxury (i know it may not be a G550 but it is money coming in) of spouting off about how it is a shame to go to GoJet. I am happy for you

Hi!

You need to understand that other people have different situations than yours. I'm NOT furloughed, I'm laid off, with no assurance I'll be called back. Currently they are flying 10 aircraft with 8 pilots. I think they'll go tits up. I had about 5" notice of my layoff. I AM lucky, in that my CEO had a job, but there are others from my airline, and others in a situation like mine, except that their spouse doesn't work, and it's not easy for their spouse to get a job, or they don't have a spouse.

If you have bills, and want to keep living in your house/apartment, unemployment only goes so far, and then it runs out.

I am looking for ANY decent job anywhere, commuting or not. If I am hired in Africa, with no commute, I'll take the job and live there, and see my family a couple of times a year, until I can find a better job. I would go to Gojet, vs. sitting at home with no job, and then losing our house.

I know a guy laid off from a major, who was offered a street captain job at GoJet. He turned it down because he was furloughed (vs. laid off-he planned on getting called back), and he got a job with a railroad. He just found out though, that he will probably be soon furloughed from his railroad job.

You have always been a pretty cheery dude, always willing to help and looking out for others. i remember you at TSA... But when you state that you would go to gjets, it just kills me. I understand losing your house, etc is terrible. And almost to a fault I would agree that any job that pays the bills is a good job. But you have worked there. You saw a lot of the crap that went on. You, who seemed to always want to be a "brother" to your fellow Waterski's, are prepared to go to an alter ego and fly. It makes no sense. You are willing to put your time and self worth, like most of us have in this industry, down to the lowest common denominator and continue to fly... Gjets.. You seem intelligent.. You seemed to be level headed at TSA. Why, and again most of us have, would you accept a job at low wages that are in no way close to parity with your experience? Why are you and most people who go there selling yourselves short? You have experience, time, skills yet are willing to sacrifice what you should be paid and how you should be treated to continue flying, especially at an alter ego? Just wondering? I am leaving this industry after 1 major, 1 regional and where I am now to pastures that seem greener. It will be more dues (time) to pay, time to invest, but in the end, the wages are commiserate with experience. And there seems to be no race to the bottom in wages and quality of life. I, too, am in jeopardy of losing my house, will be on the streets for a while, have kids, etc. But I guess it has taken me this long to realize that my time and experience are worth far more than gjets can ever offer. I wish you well Cliff.

If that's your sole concern then you can do the same at Mcdonalds. Actually McDonalds may pay a little more. You're going to get about 1500 per month at GJ before taxes. Good luck paying the bills and feeding your family.

Who cares. Point is SIC time is worthless and GJ doesn't pay the bills.

If you can't figure that out, you shouldn't be allowed near a fryer. On second thought GJ is right up your alley.

and one more thing.....all ive ever seen you do is complain. you enjoy getting on your soap box and pointing the finger at whoever you can to make yourself feel superior in front of your computer that you obviously spend too much time on. for you to have the audacity to tell another pilot that he should go work at home depot, mcdonalds, etc is outrageous. all this regional drama is juvenille at best and those who bother to take part in it are pathetic. we all went to flight school. we all paid a ton for an education. only those without a mind of their own allow others to dictate their career choices by internet forum finger pointers. none of the majors care about anything like that. this so-called blacklist is more than likely hidden away in the city of gold. how can you hold anything against another pilot for simply working and using the education he/she went through hell to get.

b/c you sat right seat in an RJ doesn't mean you have any right to talk down to anybody at all. im sure youre really good at swinging gear and all, but watch your mouth.

next time you take the day off from putting in your applications at casual dining restaraunts and various home improvement stores, look me up and ill let you ride along in my baron through a thunderstorm.
