Don't forget all the WB A vacancies in that case.

If this happens, ALPA and the legacy managers need to consult with congress BEFORE it passes to insert language to mitigate the potential Charlie Fox. Actually the airlines have the real incentive... they're the ones, not the unions, that will be left holding the bag.

But obvious airlines and ALPA know all this, I'm sure they already have a plan, draft language, talking points ready once they decide it's happening. Might already be lobbying on the DL.

Who was the lawmaker and the family member that Jason is referring to?

One of the proponents brother is a DAL WB CA

appears to be Troy Nehls of Texas. There is a pilot on the DL seniority list with the same last name (who is in the top 500 company wide and 60 years old)

Good to air this kind of thing. I assumed most sponsors of this would be from districts with air service issues, but Nehls' district is a Houston suburb. Then you have to wonder about relationships with lobbyists of various special interests.

Although Nehls is on the Transportation committee, so it's possible that he's a sponsor simply because of the committee. If his brother is 60 and DAL top 500 today, he should have no problem whatsoever retiring in comfort at 65 regardless of how many ex-wives he might have.

Yep.
U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina), John Thune (R-South Dakota), Deb Fischer (R-Nebraska), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyoming), and Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) will today introduce the Let Experienced Pilots Fly Act to address airline flights cancellations caused by a shortage of pilots.

This push started with Graham and the Senate, not the House.

I can't find the text of this, but this may include language to increase retirement age. If so, it's all over but for the inevitable passage of the FAA Reauthorization Act.

the biggest advocates for 67 at my air line tend to be those that should be able to retire very comfortably, but simply don’t want to hang up their hat. There are definitely plenty this job has kicked repeatedly with furloughs, airlines going out of business, being stapled ect. And those are the ones I feel for and would be more sympathetic for them wanting 67. Yet the people I fly with who want to see 67 the most seem to be those hired at DL or NW in their late 20s or early 30s, never furloughed, have a frozen pension or PBGC payment of some value, and spent the majority of their career in the left seat.

the DL pilot in question was hired in 1987 at NW at 25 years old and by my understanding of when furloughs happened was never furloughed. He also probably could have held the left seat since the late 90s (NW pilots can tell me if this is accurate) and WB CA for the past 5 or so years. He will retire in the top 5. Not exactly who you think of when you think “boy this career really screwed that guy”
