Average of the highest five is generally how that works with a DB.

Thanks, ACL. In that case, it appears it would be in their best interest to stick around as long as possible after a contractual pay raise.

Well, we would most likely be furloughed.

yeah and those dates assume status quo. So any growth would make it happen sooner. (assuming the world doesnt end in 2012)

1890 guys/gals on furlough. (Per APC)

Your "simple math" assumes that all of them will return to AA. I'd venture to say that at least a third, if not closer to a half of all those furloughed, have either found other flying jobs, or have found other "opportunities" outside of aviation all together.

Fly safe,

GJ

The real question is how many of those furloughs will be hitting 65 as well. Just because they're out there capable of recall now doesn't mean they won't be retiring at the same time. That's a lot of retirements just by age!

Does anyone know if the graph only includes active pilots or those on furlough as well? I'd presume that it does include them since they are on the seniority list.

Default if I had a type rating for every rumor...

No Sh1t, I did hear from an AA capt that he thinks there will be more than 200 retirements within a year. He noted that their fund price is heading into favorable territory and he said there are lot of over 60 pilots deliberating - as evidenced by an increase in sick calls by that group.
But then I don't want to fill you full of blue sky...
