I'm hearing you right, but I don't remember hearing Moak saying this, ever.
I also note you get a little... irritated when anyone has the nerve to tell you anything about NW. But you've got no problem characterizing Moak's stance, when he's only been your Chairman for a short period. You also don't seem to like other people making unconfirmed statements.
Why don't you find us a quote? It shouldn't be hard, since you think he said it over and over.
Over.

I was at a merger road show and personally heard Lee say something very similar. Just look at his Chairman's Letters - he never even mentions SCOPE.
Getting Lee to even mention scope is like getting the Administration to say the word "Stimulus" regarding their proposed new spending bill. For some reason he will list a lot of issues affecting our careers (Meteors excluded) except Scope.

One of the large problems faced is that management may choose(probably will choose) not to operate the RJ's at the mainline even if scope is recaptured. So with a lot of regional lifers about to hit the streets in such a scenario, once again the merger situation gets dicey. No way ALPA will touch this situation, neither will any other union, DPA included.
A large part of the reason scope relief was originally given was to fund ailing pension plans at the mainline carriers. For example, at one point 9E stock was mostly funding mainline employee's DB plans. The scam was to take huge stock awards on companies with guaranteed profits and then dump the loses on the share holders when the well ran dry.(i.e. Mesa)
We have seen with comair and the other regionals such as compass that wall street has figured this out and has balked at any type of future regional IPO. So we have a situation where management can no longer achieve any benefits from further scope relief, as well, most of the pension funding obligations are gone, which means that we are likely to see larger aircraft replace RJ flying at mainline.

It has been posted here many times by fDAL guys...including the excerpts from e-letters. My personal experiences are from squadron mates of his who are very good friends. These friends explained to me chapter and verse why LM feels that RJ's are good for Delta Air Lines.
I'm sure others will re-post they're own personal experiences.

He has stated it before... I don't know about many times.

I'm sure Carl's quote of Moak saying that can be found in the same friend of a friend on the internet told me(reference his squadron mate comment) location which coincidentally probably also has the costs of contract aero-med and awesome but cheaper lawyers that negotiate super premium contracts better than anybody.
And will somebody please tell me how much Alabama boosters paid the Arkansas QB to throw away that game??

Did EB say "we want out of the RJ business" ? If so, how come Delta says it but DALPA doesn't say "we want Delta out of the RJ business?"
I'll fly ATR 42-500s in a heart beat if it meant bringing every regional aircraft to mainline. And thats of course assuming DALPA and ALPA stood up and demanded pay rates that are appropriate for an airline pilot and not necessarily just what they've been at the DCI's to date.

Once again ALPA will not touch a merger scenario that puts a regional together with mainline. With the laws associated with mergers, and ALPA merger policy, some senior regional pilots will be going above junior mainline pilots on the combined list.
If you want to see an example of what I'm talking about, ask any eastie at US airways how long it will take for them to come back to ALPA if, or when, they push the westies back down the list. They will probably tell you the next day, or at least that's what they tell me.

More Air Frames are good for Delta, as long as it is Delta Pilots doing the flying!
If your MEC Chairman truly thinks outsourcing Mainline Jobs to Regionals is a good thing, sounds like the DAL pilots need to write their LEC and MEC reps
and suggest otherwise!
