As union members, we should remember that we do not control management, but we are responsible for our own actions. As much as I sympathize for the Frontier pilots, strategically, they sure appear to be going down the wrong road.
Skyway pilots were treated as separate and not protected by MidWest pilots. Midwest pilots were treated as separate and not protected by Northwest (Delta) pilots. Now Frontier's pilots has maneuvered to keep themselves separate from Republic's pilots. Delta found reasons to separate Compass and watched 500 members of their MEC vanish. US Air has continued a labor battle that prevents it from moving forward. The end result of disunity is nearly always the same.
In contrast the Delta & Northwest pilots found unity and have benefited (on the whole). Republic pilots fought for unity (scope) and they too have benefited from unity.
FWIW, take a lesson from history. What has worked elsewhere and what hasn't?

A rational post.
I am all in favor of a national list...doubt it will happen as the "haves"(and being a have is historically temporary) will not support it.
Thanks for your insights.

Also, thank you for reminding anyone who wishes to reflect on it that the dismantling of Midwest was begun by TPG/Northwest. For almost a quarter of a century Northwest had spent a great deal of energy and capital towards putting Midwest out of business. How much simpler and cheaper it was to simply buy them!
For some reason the instigators of all this have been forgotten and RAH has gotten all the blame.
Republic management can be accused of being opportunistic, but it was Northwest (with TPG as their front) who were the ones who parted out YX. ( the famous line from the movie Wallstreet..."because it's wreckable"). As you noted, the NWA....then Delta... unions idly watched as though a disinterested observer. Very similar to the just months earlier scenerio with Midwest and Skyway.
As long as we (pilots) act as though our individual interests are somehow seperate from our collective interests we will continue to see our work pay, benefits etc erode. Management would be foolish not to capitalize (pun intended) on our willingness to sacrifice the well being of the whole for an individual short term gain.

The Midwest pilots had exactly the same options and they showed up for work every day until the there was no more assigned flying, as they were contractually bound to do. However, now they blame the RAH pilots for doing the same thing they did. Unfortunately for both groups, it appears the RAH folks will likely face the same fate in the near future.
I truly believe the RAH death spiral has started. My prediction is that BB and company will be gone in less than three years, with furloughs starting by no later than January 2012. RAH FO's are bailing at the rate of 2% per month. If this holds, 25% will be gone in a year. Most of them will not see a raise until the IBT gets a new contract signed and they are not willing to wait around to see if and when that will happen. No company can survive long term with such a disenchanted employee group, with so little hope.

Doug..>I dont think one person at RAh was happy about the midwest situation. I think we would all agree it was wrong and wish that it had happened differently. We never would wish someone else out of a job. Unfortunately, it was legal, and it was most definitely the wrong thing to do.

The reason F9 pilots don't want RAH pilots to come over based on seniority number alone, is that there is no screening of the pilots to see if they fit in at F9. F9 employees love their airline (obviously) and are afraid to dilute the waters. If you interview and recieve the stamp of approval, then it doesn't matter if you are a lowly regional puke or a freight dog. It's not about who is flying what, it's about who is a good fit for F9.

Aaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Might as well give up on this thread for a few days.
CapMrgn, A spot on post. Unfortunately, except for those 2 dreadful words, it'll all be seen by the APC RAHbro crowd as gibberish . Thanks for stopping by for a visit in my land of arrogance, conceit and overbearing pride! It's actually not such a bad place.

Frontier Pilots:
Just out of curiosity, looking back, if you could revote, would you take the staple and be added to SWA or go with the current state of affairs and do the RAH thing again? I'm just curious. And no, I'm not a SWA employee.
