hey guys. looking for some opinions. i have my own thoughts about what to do, but I always enjoy the insight of others.

ive been swimming for about a year now, i believe i was in the final interview group. since then, ive been hired by Virgin America and have spent about 8 months there now.

I live in the midwest, so either way I am commuting. I enjoy working at VX. Dont get me wrong, the koolaid stops fast. like any airline, it has its issues that need to be addressed. the people i work with are great, great product and all that jazz, the schedules arent bad AT ALL (reserve sucks, 11-12 days a month off, but ive been holding a line at 17-18 days off), but the pay and many work rules leave a lot to be desired.

Assuming the call comes this spring, seeing as how i'm at the deep end I dont really know, would you guys leave VX or stay?

Long call is given out based on staffing, and how many days you are available for. 6days availability = more chance of getting LCR. You must have at least 4 days of RSV to be eligible for LCR. LCR is fairly common in the Sept-Feb timeframe when flying is slow. 1-2 days of LCR at the beginning of a 6day stretch is common during the winter. You probably wont get it at all during the summer months. I dont think there is much difference between the 190/320 in terms of LCR, but maybe someone else can post opinions on that.

Tough call. Jetblue and VX both have equal chances of not existing in a few years. I'd say things are slightly more promising at jetblue as far as profitability goes, but I wouldnt blame you for going either direction.

Oh, forgot! We don't have koolaid here, it's Bluejuice. Intoxicating as all, but the hangover is rough. Jetblue is like going to a strip club... The second you think your gonna get somthing... you don't. No matter how much she promises, no matter how much she says she loves you, no matter how much she says she "get's it this time" she's a lieing ***** that wants nothing but for you to shell out so she can get hers, while you will be left wondering... alot.

There were 127 in the pool last spring. According to previous posts on this thread at least 68 have been offered a class date so far.

I was talking to an instructor friend of mine down at OSC. He just said in the last two new hire classes. We have had two new hires from VX.

Meanwhile, JB guys have "already" started leaving for other carriers. Not expecting too many guys from the Majors to be knocking on the door at Jetblue.

Dude, Do you have a 4 year degree and Turbine PIC????????

If so, do yourself a favor and apply at the real MAJOR Airlines!!!!!!!

Yes to degree and no to turbine PIC (upgraded & subsequently downgraded a short time later @ my regional), although I did an internship with one of the "real MAJOR's". My app is in with them. Just trying to figure things out for the mean time.
