I think I phrased my question poorly. I wasn't trying to start a tech/non-tech contest, I'm just curious why anyone cares what my GPA was 20 years ago. A high GPA means you were good...at school. I've read more than one study/article showing the lack of correlation between GPA and work success, here's one: Google executive: GPA, test scores 'worthless' for hiring | The Daily Caller

If a company needs to go all the way back to my high school records to differentiate me from another candidate, then I'll call myself lacking and move on

You guys, Delta does not hire pilots on any type of quota. Period. We were told that the day of our interview by AK himself. We were at that interview table because we were qualified, for no other reason. So stop it with the B'ing and moaning about being a female or minority in the ranks at Delta. Start figuring out other more creative ways to get yourself an interview. I worked my freaking ass off to be here, I get sick of listening to the cry babies.

You guys who are complaining about airlines asking about grades are missing the point. Perhaps the interviewers want to see how you respond under stress, how you've changed since you were a kid, and whether or not you get defensive with a question you might not like. The questions are asked for a reason and are a way to separate candidates. Cooperate and graduate.

I graduated with honors and an engineering degree, never failed a checkride, and have 91 (corporate)/135 (charter)/121 (regional) experience. I've applied to United/Delta/American/US Air/Atlas/jetBlue. Several internal LORs and outside LORs. I haven't heard a peep from anywhere! So I'm not so sure STEM degrees and a high GPA count for that much.
It's frustrating, particularly when I've seen people less qualified than me get called. But it is what it is! I'll keep plugging away, and am doing my best to stay positive.

My HS GPA was a 2.6 and my College GPA was a 2.8.
Then I joined the USMC on a flying contract. Excelled in T-34s, nearly washed out of Intermediate/Advance jet training in the T-45 and was average in F/A-18 training. Then I went to the fleet, worked my a$$ off and performed well enough to get follow on orders to be an F/A-18 FRS Instructor.
I had one internal letter of rec and absolutely zero other connections to Delta and by the grace of something, I was lucky enough to get an interview and have subsequently been conditionally hired.
Point being, is that the airline application process is a psychological nightmare and will make even the most well decorated, experienced and confident individuals turn into insecure 11 year old girls. I was the same way, checking everything over and over again and wondering why, that after over a year of waiting, I had heard nothing. IT SUCKS!
And then one day the email or phone call will come and somehow you'll still feel like you’re still not ready. It's a weird, vicious circle.
Hang in there, do your due diligence and trust that the call is going to come!
