Management blames not enough SIMs and many other things. A lot of the blame was management releasing instructors and examiners over a pay dispute. Now, they are pulling the union reps, the management pilots and the training pilots and put them on the line because we don’t have the pilots to fly the lines we are given by United. This is like using a tourniquet to choke the blood in a limb. What happens when the tourniquet is released will not be pretty. Cancellation of the United contract: the company’s management is acting like it is a real possibility.

Cancellation of flights are going on like crazy right now. Republic is picking up lots of the lines we cannot fly. How long will United put up with this? Your guess is as good as mine. Management’s actions indicates it is a real possibility.
Thanks for the explanation

A friend of mine is a CA on the E-jet. They are working him to the point he is about to quit, go back into IT and just flight instruct on the side. I was a CA on the CRJ, and I had serious thoughts of doing the same. Luckily I was hired elsewhere. Another friend on the E-Jet was about to quit and go back into contract work as a mercenary, but was hired elsewhere. Mesa would rather go under than break down and pay what they need to, to sustain staffing levels. Ask any old timer.

Obviously not all instructors the airline wouldn’t be able to run.

Which begs the question, how are you still attracting new hires? Endeavor pay is good. Republic flies the 175 and has better pay with a dropping upgrade time. You can be a CA at any of the 3 AA WOs right now if you have the prerequisite time. AA WOs are actively negotiating new contracts for Endeavor-esque rates. If it’s so bad why stay when you can make more money for less work at so many other places?

Mostly pilots that no one else wants. Lots of training failures, multiple DWI's, accidents/incidents/violations, etc.

Hey, daOldMan is back. Still bitter. Tough being a regional job hopper I guess. I suspect he failed training here.

If we are going down, it would be fitting that they’re offering the $50k bonus to new hires. Dupe pilots into coming here so management can set up their parachutes then, bam, put ‘em all out on the street with nothing. How do our shady AF recruiters live with themselves?
Have you read the fine print of the $50k bonus? You are a “shady” if you are “selling” a $50k bonus as a guaranteed money if you just stick with Mesa for 3 years. That isn’t how the bonus program is structured and the pilot will likely only get half of this money.

What instructor who has a 1st class medical, is under the age 65, is type rated in the Ejet, and is Ejet current is still instructing? When reports of 5 to 6 months from day one to IOE start coming out, Mesa’s credibility goes down. When 90 day “sits” come out, Mesa’s credibility goes down. When people come on here and say they quit because they were tired of sitting,
Mesa’s credibility goes down.

Now, I can buy that this may be a SIM availability issue. SkyWest is increasing their Ejet fleet by 40% this year. Envoy is adding 10 Ejets. Other regionals may be sucking up the available SIM time.

Whatever the issue, Mesa’s lack of planning has led us to having people quit during training when they wouldn’t have if they could get through the program in 3 months. You don’t see anyone else with an Ejet program having this problem. Not Envoy, Not Republic. Not Compass. Not SkyWest. This is just poor planning and poor management.

well , I am one of them that going to leave .
I did interview with compass , Skywest and Mesa and I got offer from all 3 ( couple months ago ) , I choosed Mesa so I can fly as much as possible and get my hours and move on .
Now I see I have to wait 3 months or more for sim ( whatever is the reason ) , and I been in training for 2 months almost .
Recruiter lied about I can finish Everything in 3 or 4 months . Sounds like it’s 9 months now !!!
I called Skywest and they have spot for me on January 18 .
I really hope things get better in training department and recruiter stop their lies.
I make sure whole my class know about this delay so they may find their way out as well .
BTW I have couple friends at Mesa and they are great pilots , nothing bad about Mesa pilots , it’s training department or management and recruiters with lies.

Offers from all 3 and you still made the decision that you did. Tight work.
