Don’t study more than one section ahead. Right now, you should be prepping for the ATP. The Indoc is straightforward. However, you must apply yourself and study, particularly for the oral because it stops being multiple choice and starts being more serious. The oral is before SIMs here.

Well I was wondering if I should go ahead and pay for the Sheppard Air myself to get a head start. The person I emailed at Mesa told me the ATP/CPT dates would be set after orientation and then the study guide would be sent out. That means I'd have it one week prior to the ATP course and another week while at ATP course to study with. I was wondering if that was enough. I may just go ahead and buy it.

Buy it. Best investment you’ll make for less than $100.

It is your call. I went ahead and bought it. It is a written FAA test like most other FAA tests you have already taken.

I bought it not not knowing it was provided, but it was well worth it. It made for a less stressful time at higher power, plus I got a refund anyway.

How long is the oral. I found these flash cards on Google for Mesa and had about 360 flashcards for the exam. Are these reliable?

My experience is that it was better to pay for Sheppard ahead of time and start knocking that out. It just takes the pressure off and frees up brain cells for the next fire hose of information.

I do better when I’m not continuously stressed out. So knocking anything out early, I found helpful.

Everyone learns at a different pace. But why not give yourself more time. It is a LOT of information.

Good luck everyone. Study hard.

My oral took about 15 min... Weight & Balance, a few questions on walkaround powerpoint slides and one or two questions on every switch on the overhead. Sometimes the examiner didn't even let me finish the answer if he noticed I knew it... one or two memory items and limitations.

The more confident you walk in the quicker you'll walk out. If you don't know don't mess around just say I don't know and move on.

On the Ejet, the oral was an average of 2-3 hours. The flash cards are worthless in my opinion but knowing the questions helps. Ask those who are ahead of you in class at the hotel.

The oral is the first place in my class where people started being flushed out of the program.
