Yeah, making entries in mountainous terrain with one of those FMS keypads that types every letter 8 times. That should be interesting.

If you are bored after flying the left seat of the CRJ after 1,000 hours and the majors aren’t nibbling, there are lots of flying jobs out there. One 18 year Mesa CRJ CA just went to Envoy as an FO for the flow.
Something must be seriously wrong with this dude if he has that much TPIC and has yet to be hired by a major. Must have some serious skeletons in the FAA closet for him to not be hired or is a social pariah.

You are seriously underestimating how hard it is to get hired at a legacy airline. Your time counts for a lot less than you think it does.

It can actually count against you.

Very much so, along with lack of a recent major training event.

Well what other metrics are there to measure a pilot by besides time, types, clean training record, and other flight experience.

It's not like we're NASCAR drivers and can be measured by how many wins we have. lol

Training issues don't necessarily make one a bad investment either. There are explanations that vary by the circumstances and what was learned. A clean record doesn't get you hired. In fact, it appears sometimes to be the opposite! I know several who have bent metal at a regional now happily flying at mainline.

Damn, that's surprising. I always thought it was a career ender.

I actually had a dream/nightmare the other night that I was taxiing a large RJ through some kind of tunnel system that was very narrow. The wings only had about a foot of clearance on each side and it had tight turns and I scraped a wing in a turn and said to the FO, "That's it. I'm getting fired and my career is over." lol

Who you know is still probably the best and not just line pilots while that does help. A history of extra curricular activities. College degree and not just having a degree, where it’s from and your GPA carries weight.

I was always told, "The pilots interviewing you just want you to be professional, knowledgeable, and most importantly, someone they would enjoy working with for four days straight."
