I flew with some great J4J pilots when I was a noob. Might even be a good networking opportunity for those who want to move on in some hypothetical post-covid alternative future.

I wouldn't worry too much about the cadets going to the back of the line. A J4J guy/girl is less likely to get you violated.

the question from the OP is do cadets have priority when training starts. I figured they were not Mesa pilots yet therefore I wrote what I wrote.

if I’m incorrect about that I apologize.

I am a cadet and we are told the ATP req doesn’t apply to us due to the contract we signed. And we do have training priority.

Yes, Cadets ahead of new hires. If you want to come in the door and interview to be an FO at $36 an hour, plus feel free. Preferential interviewing would be fine, but I would vote down any suggestion of those United pilot new hires starting in the left seat ahead of those eligible and awaiting upgrade.

there is an outside chance I will be furloughed.....Iv done the regionals I can do them again. My pride is not such that I would rather put my family on the street than work for a Mesa. It’s not my first choice.....but if it’s my ONLY choice sign me up. This doesn’t have to be a contentious issue. Why are people so angry about pilots Mesa hasn’t even hired yet?
Well, you've got 60 to 80 pilots who were in various levels of training and IOE and the cadets who were already interviewed and contracted ahead of you before anyone from United gets hired. Not sure how many spots you think will be available but you likely won't have to lower yourself to the level of Mesa pilot for quite some time. Consider yourself lucky.

I chose it because I didn't want to commute. No DUI, no check ride failures, and no certificate actions. I doubt I am in the minority. I am sure most of the pilot group at Mesa has their reasons for their choice and most do not involve it being a last resort. I doubt we would enjoy your company in the flight deck as you complain of your bad luck in having to sink you our level. Maybe try Southern, I hear they are hiring.

United pilots starting in the left seat isn’t even in the LOA....please go read it! you have got yourself all spun up over what you THINK it says. It does say United pilots would start at year 2 pay.....whatever that is.

im certainly NOT saying we should start anywhere but at the bottom of the seniority list. That’s only fair.

where did I ever judge Mesa pilots? Mesa would be my last choice because other United Express carriers operate out of where I live. I also do not like labor relations at Mesa. It seems the Union is nutless and JO has no respect for the pilots.

I have nothing against the line pilot never have never will. It does appear some of you seem very angry and quick to defend.......

It was signed the 18th of DEC 2012, so it’s clearly newer than whatever agreement you are referencing after 9/11.

as to why I care? Because we are about to furlough and our pilots need jobs.

just because you choose not to look at it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. As I said before read paragraph 3.b very closely.....WE as in The UNITED MEC control scope not Mesa, not JO, not the Mesa MEC and certainly not Mesa pilots. If JO wants to die on this sword he is welcome too and if the pilots who hire want to take the approach of not hiring furloughed pilots then the group can deal with the fall out.
Hold on there Hoss. No united pilots are on furlough.

In the same LOA 5.a pilots must be on furlough OR notified of furlough. Next week we will have pilots notified of furlough, that is when this LOA will officially take effect.

but you are correct as of TODAY 7-29-2020 no pilot has been furloughed or notified of furlough.

Your are welcome to apply when you get furloughed. We don’t have a tiller in the right seat though, and the reserve rules really suck. You have a better chance in corporate or go teach in the sim.
