what???? This is a guaranteed interview and a hiring quota. No where did I say we are going to be bouncing current Mesa pilots to the street.......

United Express carriers must interview and offer furloughed pilots from United a job before some kid with a fresh ATP flying cessnas.

I really don’t understand why people are so ****ed about this.

Its uncomfortable to listen to it. I get it, but it needed to be quashed. I’ve been silent long enough; reading the threats and trash guys like this spew. So much so I submitted this very same question in our last town hall just to get the facts.
The arrogance and finally the threats of retaliation were it. Unfortunately this is a place where a lot of our cadets, potential new hires and our brothers and sisters who were furloughed during training come to get company info. The company stopped communicating with them. So this guy comes in here threatening retaliation and spreading BS from 11 years ago (as if he speaks for the whole UA pilot group)...Like most trolls he will go away.

Personally I don’t care what you think because ultimately it’s not your decision nor is it mine. Uniteds MEC and the company agreed to an LOA that is directly connected to SCOPE. When SCOPE is violated then United gets in trouble, when United gets in trouble they will go after the ones that caused the problem. It can’t get anymore clear in the LOA:

Paragraph 3.b states (I’ll type it out since you refuse to go read it yourself) - A united Express Carriers ability to operate aircraft under the terms of section 1 (SCOPE) is dependent on extending employment offers as required per paragraph 2 of this letter of agreement and section 1-C-1-j of the agreement.

if JO says no we won’t hire you and Mesa pilots say no we won’t hire you then you will no longer be a United Express carrier it can’t be any clearer than that.

fireman: Ya, no I get it
master: I think there are two things being conflated here but I almost don’t care enough to explain it. Yes, I’d imagine a furloughed United pilot could interview and get hired at Mesa once Mesa starts hiring again. They’d certainly be qualified and could definitely do the job. I guess they’d go straight to captain at year one captain pay, idk and idc. I’m sure that there aren’t any that would stoop so low as to put on a Mesa uniform and fly an rj but I’m sure if I flew with one that went through it all just to fly I’d enjoy sharing the flight deck with them. I think the issue that everyone has recently become inflamed about, and it is the buzz in the IAH terminal (I don’t work there) is united pilots speaking of it as a down flow of sorts. JO was clear that that is not a thing. Again I don’t really know and I don’t really care to pee all over the walls over the details. I’ve barely been here a year and I can say everyone outside definitely loves to hate us at Mesa. I don’t have a problem with it. Wear it like a badge of honor. We have a good pilot group and some great CPs and LCAs. Several people in my class including myself could’ve gone to other “better” places but choose to come here for one reason or another. Like any profession we have our nerds and losers but that is a small percentage of the group and from my time jumpseating, is inline with the other shops for both big and little airplanes. Damn I was sucked in?!
Finally master, you are probably the most awesome album ever recorded. ✌🏻

good post no argument from me.

its not a downflow or flow back. And United Furloughed pilots will enter on the bottom of the list but paid as year 2. Anyone who says any different doesn’t know what the LOA says.....IF THEY WOULD READ IT MAYBE IT WOULD CLEAR THINGS UP!

there is an outside chance I will be furloughed.....Iv done the regionals I can do them again. My pride is not such that I would rather put my family on the street than work for a Mesa. It’s not my first choice.....but if it’s my ONLY choice sign me up. This doesn’t have to be a contentious issue. Why are people so angry about pilots Mesa hasn’t even hired yet?

Nobody is angry at you. You just come across as entitled and telling Mesa pilots Mesa is contractually obligated to hire you isn’t in good taste nor tactful by any measure. Mesa isn’t hiring, so your “LOA” between your union and United doesn’t mean anything anyways. Maybe you should show up to the Mesa interview and tell the HR this wasn’t your first choice, but if it’s your only choice you will take it.

Ok so honest question.....are the cadets Mesa pilots?

the question from the OP is do cadets have priority when training starts. I figured they were not Mesa pilots yet therefore I wrote what I wrote.

if I’m incorrect about that I apologize.
