Mesa issues warn notice to pilots

Company will lose!
Fact!!!
J.O. doesn't want to downgrade, otherwise he would have done so already.
J.O. doesn't want to Furlough, otherwise those displacement bids would have been initiated already.
J.O doesn't want to pay for cross training.
End Poverty Wages! Vote NO!

So no the company doesn’t want to. However this money WILL be saved one way or the other. If they are forced by financial pressure and unwillingness by the pilot group to “share the sacrifice” there will be furloughs, base displacements and downgrades. You may find yourself in SDF.

You are correct, one won’t receive as much on unemployment without the cares act money. But a Mesa FO Who gets furloughed then decided to work at Amazon will make more money than one on 68 hours of Mesa pay. Toss is commuting to Mesa and getting furloughed is a lot better on their budget. Not to mention if pay is less than $2k per month if any benefits are taken so I didn’t include health insurance as someone taking home $2k has elected to not have insurance.
With the $300 per week extended Covid relief, you make about $200 less per month with 76 hours credit, but about $100 more than on 68 hour credit.
I calculated those numbers with 76 hours. In reality, they would be higher. Texas takes the highest quarterly earnings within the last year, divides that amount by 25, and voilà, there are your early benefits.
If one had 90 hours in 3 consecutives month in 2019, your monthly benefit would be $3000 on unemployment, vs. $2584 (68 hours)
(Based on $38 hour FO rates).
90 x $38 * 3 / 25 / 7 * 30 = $1758 monthly
plus $1285 = $3043 MONTHLY PAY
So you'd be getting way more money sitting comfortable at home.
No crashpad, no ready reserve, no fast-food airport food! No inefficient commuting, 30 Days off vs. 12.
Texas pays 6.5 months of UE.

If you 're based in IAH, you get unemployment benefits from that state, regardless where you live.

He probably has to pay child support for 3 of his failed marriages. That’s why his 106 hours of credit are necessary to survive. I feel bad for those people who didn’t plan for the future and spent the money as quick as it hit the bank.

Unemployment Benefits
At present, the U.S. government and Texas legislature have not changed any laws or rules concerning unemployment benefits during the pandemic. However, Department of Labor guidance provides that federal law permits significant flexibility for states to provide Unemployment Insurance (UI) services related to COVID-19. Based on this, TWC will be waiving work search requirements for all claimants and the waiting week for those claimants affected by COVID-19.
