Virtually every airline is now avoiding furloughs and the main method is lowering guarantee. Our hard stance on no concessions may have us as the only operating airline that furloughs.

Furlough before reduced guarantee. Is it a “guarantee“ if it gets lowered? Sounds more like a suggestion if you allow it to go up and down. Why not make it 100hrs?

I’m willing to look at whatever proposal (If given the opportunity) they come up with, but keep in mind that the other carriers that are accepting a reduced guarantee make considerably more than we do to begin with. A captain at Republic, for example, that is effected by the reduced guarantee will still make what I make at full guarantee. I don’t know that we have the luxury of giving much.

Also, keep in mind that this company is designed to pay everyone the minimum even in the good times. I’m not complaining about that - I knew the deal coming here, but I think that the company needs to take that into consideration. We have helped them all along maybe it’s time for them to return the favor for a while.

All that said, if they don’t get a concessions (and I believe a reduced guarantee is a concession) they will furlough. I think the furlough will be in a couple of rounds though.

Or they extend the cares act...and we kick this can down the road until March. What say you?

I think a cares act is coming. An they push possible furloughs til mar/April an by then travel should be about 70% of pre covid

The latest news does in fact say that the extension would include PPP...but does that include the airlines?

This was a statement in a Delta article published by ALPA daily:

"Delta pilots, however, haven’t fared quite so well after the airline announced its intention to furlough 1,941 unionized flight crew on October 1. The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) hit out at Delta, saying the airline was using the threat of furlough to force through concessions."

Think about it!
I'm standing for NO concessions!!!

JO made the statement that he’d like to be the only regional that doesn’t furlough. Uhh Does he think we are all lemmings? Skywest has no plans for furloughs.
They are paid considerably more than us. So how can they afford to pay their pilots? Come on guys. We took a pay cut coming to work for Mesa. All JO is looking to do is show the shareholder that he can squeeze the pilot group for enough money so he can get a bonus for increasing the stock price.
it is better to be furloughed than to take a pay cut. If they reduce our pay, then we can’t just quit and draw unemployment. We wouldn’t qualify if you volunteered to leave.
So guys having a company attempt to keep you on staff at below unemployment rates is insulting and detrimental to doing the right thing for families.
