Just wondering, how long does it take in seniority at Mesa to fly the 737 currently? I heard 3 years. Is this correct.

People have been saying this on this forum for the past 10 years + about Mesa.... "THIS is when Mesa finally dies!!!" yet it never happens. Mesa isn't going away any time soon.

Most junior guy is 7 years. Next senior that is 14. Pretty sure the 7 was initial cadre.

the current environment is unlike any mesa has seen.
united stated itself they are planning a regional phase out.

Add….those who wait 9 months for a sim fpt schedule. Many don’t return, that will only increase with the aawo pay as it is now which includes the bonuses.

Add…..We lose 30 to 50 pilots per month(< can someone chime in here). It takes 9 months to produce a ioe ready pilot. The ioe ready pilot on the Ejet is waiting several weeks for ioe.

add….the parked planes
Add in the folks that are leaving…… and welp

And of course some of those waiting 9 months are still collecting a paycheck from mesa and wouldn’t put it past them to use the hotel too so they don’t have to commute to their new regional.. to never return. And people say there’s no money to pay pilots. $10,000 plus for months in hotels, thousands in pay to never fly a single hour.

Why would you want your union to restrict current, dues paying members. If this is allowed, could this possibly set a precedent for any other better paying aircraft that may come down the road (B767, B777, whatever)? This union fought long and hard to get rid of Freedom, and while this isn’t exactly the same thing (alter ego carrier) there seem to parallels (junior people, higher pay airplane). Disclaimer.....I’m not an expert on Freedom so I may be off on this comparison......

I can only assume this is something the company really wants to save on training costs. That is NOT our problem and a huge concession.

FACT
Pilots who went to freedom Sep 2002 and thereafter did a huge harm to Mesa pilots (2003 contract ) and the industry ( every Regional manager was throwing the Mesa contract on the table during their negotiations )as a whole ……

Proudly carrying that list of pilots and I will never give them a jump seat ALPA or not
We don’t forget we don’t forgive

737 should only be an option for new hires if every other pilot at the company has passed it up. That's how seniority works.

The general workaround for that is to negotiate bypass pay for all pilots above the junior category pilot who receives the award. All RJ pilots get 737 FO pay? Now you're talking something a bit more palatable.

That lucrative $50 something per hour FO pay that is $40 dollars an hour below envoy? The line of FO's looking for that deal will be miles deep!

MAGMEC: Guys use this calculator to show you how if you stay here it will take you 5 years to make the same amount of money you can make in 1 year by switching airlines! But we’re still voting yes!

Seriously guys. Stop emailing. You’re embarrassing yourselves.
