Oh, well that is what the gate agents were telling me in PHX a few years ago when I was based there. Are the leases up on the 200's? Is it in Skywest's contract to give pilots a 20 minute duty free break in hub? I hear Airwyays wants to get rid of the Skywest 200's out of PHX. What are ya hearing over at Skywest?
There is nothing about a required break I know of, I do quick turns in hub cities all the time. And I have to agree our 200s are rarely weigh restricted, sometimes we have to put a little ballast on and taking a jump seater can be hard with the forward CG. but in about two years of flying the CRJ I can only think of two times we had to boot passengers off.

I found it. Our 14 planes 200s/900s with US in PHX come off contract in 2014, and our 12 200s with AA in LAX come off contract in 2015. they were both short term contracts

Thanks for the help guys. Was trying to differentiate the rumors from the facts. Damn I'm about 0/4 this last two days. Depending on if Airways puts these additional 900's in PHX. Guess I'll take a break.

SkW's US contract was 3 years. Expires at the end of 2014/beginning of 2015.
It's actually for 15 aircraft. Originally 14 200's.
The 4 900s we have were supposed to be 1/1 swaps with 200s, but they decided to keep one extra 200 around. There was NO contract extention with the 900s, nor the additional 200.
When the contract is up 12/2014-01/2015, if not renewed, we simply are done flying for US.
As to what we have heard, (at least me): Nothing of substance.
For the US operation, we post the best perf/reliability #s compared to any of our other partner operations (UA/DL/AS/AA). We are rarely restricted, we rarely cancel anything. As product goes, I would find it surprising to lose the contract based on poor performance. It would just likely be that we are no longer needed in the new merged airline's plans.
Such things happen. Welcome to the regionals.
As to crew getting 20 min breaks in the Hubs, we have no such thing. If a crew needs a break and says so, we will just take one, largely cause this is not abused. That said, more often than not, someone will run in for the whole crew and round up food and bring it back while the others bust butt to get departure out in minimal time.
When we are turning a/c, our min turn time from block in to out is scheduled for 28 min (to get an adjusted on time departure). On a 6 leg day where we get behind, it's normal to work straight through quick turning in less than allotted time just to get back as close as possible to on time.

I had a feeling they would go the CLT but the rumor that some peeps had put out in the universe was PHX. Oh well that's why we have APC to clear this stuff up.

With Mesa being authorized to use ipads, I was curious as to the percentage of pilots flying the line with one, since the cost is to be borne by the pilot group?
I realize your take home pay won't take you home, however I would call this a necessary expense, vs. carrying four Jepp binders and a flight case.
