I noticed some of mesa's 900s have 76 seats and some have 79. Will they all be converted to 76?

American scope clause is fo 76, that's why all the new ones have 76. The 79 seaters were originally operated for America west express. They were grandfathered on to the airways operation during the merger, and are being grandfathered in once again. I see no reason why aag would want us to throw that extra capactity away.

This isn't the military. This isn't a non-profit/charity/church. We are not duty-bound to Mesa Airlines or any of our passengers to go beyond our job responsibilities, as outlined in our labor contract, company manuals, and company policies.

You can try to make this into your fantasy military/EMT/missionary/law enforcement job all you want, but in reality you're a Mesa Airlines pilot, working for a private corporation, and your only job is to fly the airplane per the contract, manuals, and corporate policies.

When you start going above and beyond just doing your job and flying the plane safely, you almost always cause more problems than you solve. And believe me--no one--all the way up the management chain, actually wants you to start getting involved in stuff like throwing bags on the ramp, yammering on the radio about shortcuts for your misconnecting passengers, or trying to help old ladies down the stairs because airlines are stingy and don't maintain enough jetbridges.

All of the above actually mess up the operation, expose the company to liability, and expose you to OJIs/accidents. Additionally, because you heroes are out there accepting flying you don't have to do per contract, accepting hotels that don't meet the definitions of 117 rules, accepting airplanes with a simple "ops checked ok" from Mx every time, and literally bending over and moving mountains to "help the passengers and company"--well, by confusing "duty" with "Mesa Airlines" you're a major reason why management sees zero need to sign a new contract, get better hotels, or fix glaring maintenance issues that will eventually cause even bigger delays/cancellations...way to go, champs.

You and Snickers sound like the kind of yammering redneck yes-men who would go jump off a cliff if the CPs said "hey ya'll--we need you to jump off that cliff over there." Do yourselves, your employer, the ramper & gate agent unions, and your passengers all a favor and just focus on flying the plane per the manuals and contract.

Are you really gonna answer "all I do is fly the plane because that's what my FOM says. Nothing more, nothing less." ???

Also, newbie??!?? Lol was that supposed to be an insult? Already got a couple of carriers under my belt and not by choice homeslice. You did a much better job insulting yourself with your unwillingness to help those around you.

Merry xmas mesa peeps
Where do you draw the line? Are you going to throw bags on your off days to "help the pax?" Are you going to commute in two days early, just to make sure you're there for the pax in case your hometown is snowed in? Are you going to carry that straightback passenger down the stairs to make sure they make their insanely tight connection?

Our job responsibilities and training are strictly confined to operating the airplane and maintaining security--for good reason. When you start doing other peoples' jobs for them, or try to be Mr. volunteer customer service agent, you're really just patching over a problem that needs to be fixed at a level way above your paygrade--in the long-run, you're actually just perpetuating problems that would make the entire passenger experience better.

In several years of being an ALPA union rep, I can safely say it is people like you who end up in the CP's/HR office doing carpet dances more than the guys who just show up, do their job, and go the heck home--becuase, like I said, NO ONE actually wants you going outside of your manuals/job title/paygrade.

Volunteer at a soup kitchen or do Angel Flight stuff if you want to be a volunteer. Join the military if you want to be duty-bound to sacrifice in the name of the greater good. But please, please for the sake of our profession stop pretending like your regional airline job is a higher calling in life that requires you to go above & beyond--pleasssseeeeee stop.

Do captains get paid the 700 rate when flying the 76 seater and the 900 rate when flying the 79 seater? What's to say when aa pilots get a JCBA, it will not include a grandfather clause for the 79 seats and force Mesa into reconfiguring?

The rates are made by seat range (50-59,60-76,>76) if they were reconfigured to 76, then they would obviously fall in the lower rate.

Their jcba could make all 3rd party contractors (us) wear rainbow ties and assess chaps if they wanted to put it in there. However, as it stands, there's nothing about making us downsize the seat number.

I just flew on a Mesa US airways 900 with 76 seats. Maybe they all ready started converting them.

What a ridiculous post. Everyone here knows that all chaps are assless by default.
