I’m looking for guidance. I have offers from both Mesa and SkyWest for upcoming CRJ classes. QOL is most important to me. Currently live in Phoenix. Pay is low on my items to make a decision. Concerned with having to sign a training contact with Mesa. What would be the areas I should most consider before making a decision? I know nothing is a sure thing but would like informed input from those that have been there and done that.

I had to make the same decision less than a year ago. I chose Mesa and don't regret it. I got Phx after a month and a half out of training. right now Phoenix is supposedly shrinking by about half with focus on DFW growth as our lax flying goes away...at least that's the rumor. I'll never hold Phx as a captain, so I plan on living in base as an FO for a while. I have a friend that finally got to Phx at SKW after a year and he will be on reserve for a while. Tough call...I think SKW's days are limited at PHX. Mesa's movement is a lot faster, but that could change in 6 months after all the new planes are staffed and movement slows. QOL at SKW seems to be on the downturn and reserves get bent over quite a bit. They have tons of 50 seaters = parking planes over the next 5 years. We won't be doing that anytime soon. QOL at Mesa isn't bad at all. The company doesn't screw with us. Only thing that sucks is pay, but it's not much worse than anywhere else, and in your case, like mine, it wasn't really a factor in my decision.

Phone interview. DFW growing for CRJ. Chances of getting PHX in short time relatively good. Very vague. All training in PHX with also the possibility of sim being in PHX. Quick upgrade of 12-16 months. Overall I like to idea of staying in PHX for training and possibility getting PHX line faster than I would with SkyWest. Concerned that it was only a phone interview and that I had two face-to-face interviews to get the offer at SkyWest.

That's sad, you didn't even factor pay into your decision? You must be one of those spoiled riddle grads that had everything handed to you on silver platter from mommy and daddy.

Yes. That is literally the ONLY possible way anyone in this world could have money if they are now looking to be a regional pilot.
But that's cool. You must be one of those old disgruntled lifers who's been furloughed 10 times, once from comair (obviously) and still fly turboprops (because they're how real regional pilots pay their dues.) Or you're just jerk with a keyboard and internet connection.

There should be a psych test requirement to be allowed to purchase Internet services.
