When I went to ATP, they were not kind to people that needed "extra" time, was common for people to get cut out and sent home. Today, different dynamics are in play, don't know what they do.
I think some of the big wigs in ATP were military pilots.
I found learning the concepts of flows, callouts, and procedures early in my training to be extremely beneficial, and done in an IFR environment.
We were not allowed to even touch the airplane until we demonstrated mastery of the flows, callouts, and procedures in the simulator.
Needless to say, when I went, you had to be extremely self motivated, and determined to succeed. All of my classmates were the same way, and those who weren't, didn't last long.
I had a nasty side effect from ATP, when I became an instructor, and taught at 141 schools, I had zero patience for students who did not share the same motivation and determination I had in flight school. I had one student crying in the simulator, well the next day she had a new instructor. Yes, I was the flight instructor equivalent of J.L. Jr... Looking back at things, I am thankful for training I received, but because of how they were, I was in complete shock at how nice everyone was at Mesa. I was expecting ATP round two...

Would that it were true. But just like anywhere else in life, duds show up to training in the military, and some duds make it thru. There is often pressure in the military to graduate pilots, just as there is in other schools that produce pilots. At the end of the day, there are people who get thru the programs that have no business being in a cockpit.

How much is the referral bonus? How is it paid?

No per dime during training? That is pitiful. I think most others pay that.

I have heard something about a $1000 new hire bonus, as well as extra pay during training. Any truth to those rumors?

Normal pay is min guarantee and no per diem while in training.

It's all been posted before. It's 100% true.

This has been known for some time. The union has known but they move very slowly. Haven't you noticed we haven't heard anything from the union since BR resigning from MEC. The DMV works faster than these sloths.
Here it is again. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Thank you Sir!

How ironic that I can get this answer here, but talking to a recruiter, I could not.

Maybe my background is not the norm but I can clarify on a few things. I did things backwards and went to ATP for my ratings and then was selected by the Military for a pilot position. My experience with ATP was good and I generally had good instructors and for the most part, had a good overall experience. Same with the Military, some good IPs and some not so good. While it is true that they (Military) are extremely selective in the interview/board process, some duds do slip through the cracks. While ATP and the Military are completely different, I can also see some slight similarities in the training between the two.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. There are good CFIs/IPs/students everywhere. There are also bad ones. Everywhere.

Got the same info last week from a recruiter rep $250/ week until IOE. Yes, I have it in writing. Sounds like they are trying to add in an incentive, but are not advertising it too much.

Is there a uniform for training or just for checking events? How about for sims if off campus? Are there any 175 CPTs trainers in PHX? If not do they give out posters?

To all of you that are thinking of Mesa for a flying job/career, let me tune you up about what Mesa is all about; first, you think you can live on 20k/yr. You can't, unless you have a big bank account. Think you are going to upgrade in a year to two years, try 3-4 years. Mesa does not care about you. They don't care if you have family problems, they want you at station, and ready 12 hrs a day on reserve. If you choose Mesa because of domicile; try e-jet for IAH, Envoy for Dfw, Transtates for IAD, and you will never get PHX because it is super senior. All these regionals are way better in pay and benifits. Mesa has the worst pay and benifits in the industry. They pay for nothing. Some regionals pay for uniforms, not Mesa. I am sorry I came here and will be looking for another job after the new year. JO treats all of his employees like crap. Terrible hotels and crew rooms. I have never been in such a "cheep, cheep" company. Good luck to all who have hope that it will get better, it won't. JO will run this company into the ground before giving any more in pay and benifits.
