Can you let us know the outcome?
Why would anyone sign a training contract in this environment? Is Mesa the only regional requiring one? I know Republic dropped their's a while back.
I'm looking at Mesa only because I live close to Dallas but I will cross it off my list if a training contract is required. Seems kind of crazy to require one in the current environment. It's one more reason to avoid a particular regional when you would think they would be changing things to make it a more attractive place to work, not less attractive.

Your other Dallas choices are ENY and XJT if living close to base is high on your priority list.

Don't quote me, but it may be quietly going away. I know a guy who started last June, and he said no one in his class was asked to sign the PN. Mesa sends a copy marked on every page with a "SAMPLE" watermark, probably to suggest the potential still exists. Several pages back, someone from Mesa suggested there is a way around paying it back, but didn't elaborate publicly. You might be able to find his post and ask about it via PM.

My paper work says from CBA 11 H 1d, beginning from check ride, its prorated from 0-1 $12,758 to 6 months of $7,438 and with 45 day notification its reduced by 50%. I think this is aircraft specific, and if not paid the pilot is also obligated to pay 20% of the lawyer and collection fees. I have no idea if this is legal or special to certain states for enforcement.
Figure it takes about about a year and half to get 1000 hours from indoc, but then your invested, unless something much better comes along. Who knows what upgrade time will be then maybe bad or not, that's the risk of choosing a regional. Each pilot must make a choice based on the information given and hope it's the right timing with growth and movement. Pay and flow are not the only thing to consider, a stable fiscally sound company, competitive airframe for majors needs, health insurance, 401, reserve rules, commuting, and crew bases are all things one must be willing to accept with the job. pilots at Mesa can help those thinking of making the leap to Mesa to be prepared for the first year.

Bottom line in this industry, don't burn any bridges. If you sign something, follow through. If you have doubts, go elsewhere. When you upgrade, it is another note to sign. If I was employing some one, I would view you as not being loyal, and would look at the next guy if you broke a contract you signed. Your word means nothing.

Any chance of sharing your reasons for leaving Mesa, or your background? PM if you'd like, I'm very interested in knowing what I'm jumping into. Having a training contract s...ks. frontier I think still has one and they don't pay for hotels in training.
I'm ready for the low pay and sitting on sh...t ready reserve. Unfortunately, most regionals and even some majors QOl is crap, as they have given up Qol for $$$. I think the 117 rules are better understood now than a year ago, hopefully scheduling doesn't abuse reservists too bad. I have my reasons for Mesa, compared to other regionals they offer me what I need. I have the 121 1000 TPIC large turbine 737 type. I have not heard from anybody other than long long range class with a few companies. its always best to take first training offer than wait months for a training date, while I go noncurrent. I plan to stay at Mesa until I upgrade, then I'll see what happens. if you need the money upfront and can wait for a slow upgrade and a flow, than Endeavor or Envoy maybe best. I can't wait for a flow, nor do I trust them, I'm too old.
