The gaps are only in the Jan 16 new hires and it's because the CRJ new hires aren't on the list yet. The Jan 7th EJET class had 25 people in it. There were 20+ CRJ new hires too. Big class, kinda took everyone by surprise.

Thanks for the response. How long after that to hold a line?

Junior line holder in PHX is a Feb or Mar 2015 hire. I just went to look at the awards and the PHX FO awards aren't there anymore. Lately there's been a lot of movement from very senior FOs finally upgrading, so the movement has stayed good in PHX. For reference I got PHX after a month and a half out of IOE and a line 2 months later, then did a couple reserve months with the LAX flying shrinkage, and am just about in the top third in PHX after a little over a year out of IOE. It fluctuates based on the amount of PHX flying, the number of FOs in PHX who upgrade, etc., so it could be vastly different for you in a few months if things change or if/when upgrades stop.

There are gaps in the Jan 7th people...Jan 16 isn't on there yet. Assuming that is the 20+ CRJ guys you're referring to? How are we getting 25 newhire ejet sim slots + upgrade sim slots? And how did we get 45 new hires in one class PLUS another class for that month? Surely that referral bonus isn't working that well, as I think anyone who would come here because of a referral bonus would come here anyway. The extra bonuses (iPad, food pay, ioe bonus, etc) could also be to blame (credit?). The pool of applicants is dry, they say...

Do you think the $3500 "bonus" is responsible for new hires coming in? At an airline that has a 1-yr training contract, even without the bonus money?

A training contract that rarely/if ever gets enforced, and is slashed in half with 45 days notice, and is prorated, ending up not really being worth it to pursue. And no 50 seaters. And cheap cost of living domiciles (less IAD). Quick upgradez and shiny jetz. Throw in a few grand up front (which is about a 15% pay raise from current first year pay) and it could be enough to put people who were on the fence in class. Clearly something is working.

The gaps in the Jan 7 class is the 20+ CRJ pilots. The total class size was close to 50 combined. I don't know how big the Jan 16 class is yet. Additional EJET sim slots are coming from entitlement credits through FSI in STL and we're using a couple of their instructors too to help with training resources. We have 100% of sim slots on the DFW sim now (we run that thing 20 hours a day) and we can also get some YYZ slots too on occasion. I'm not saying a big class won't create a backlog, it probably will.

Hats off to Mesa for turning things around. Last time I checked on mesa, the darling regionals were crying Mesa was going bankrupt and the pilots were were off to the streets. Now,6 years later, the company is clicking along with 12 month upgrades and an amazing trading department, strong financials, and lucrative contracts for FFD. Hold strong guys and get the pay you deserve. Where is Sniper and Slats during these amazing times?

I don't think the financials are that strong, and I get the feeling those FFD contracts aren't exactly "lucrative." Why we couldn't get them for the same rates SkyWest does is beyond me. And if this full new hire class isn't a fluke, we just lost a good chunk of leverage for the TA (management's ability to staff).

Nobody here is going to vote in a bad TA. The older guys have taken enough abuse over the years and the younger guys know their worth. But if management is still filling classes what's the incentive for them to come back to the table and negotiate with any degree of seriousness? That leaves us at an impasse until they can't fill classes or we get to mediation.

Also, it would be really nice if we could look at February open time right now before bidding opens. Why isn't that a thing?
