Default Cape Air FO & 1 yr Contract

I have a question regarding the 1yr training contract, which Cape makes you sign.

Is there a dollar amount associated with this contract??

If you join Cape Air as an FO & leave before you reach 1500 TT or ATP mins, do they mark you as "NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RE-HIRE" ??

Can someone confirm this pls??

Also, What are the potential impacts for an individual in the future job seach??

When I was an FO at Cape I signed a 6-month commitment only. I fulfilled that, and left the company after about 11 months.

I left on "good terms" because I did not take an upgrade class, nor did I upgrade to PIC/Mail pilot.

Cape was nothing but positive when I left. I should note that I was not part of the Gateway program, and worked as a ramp agent prior to joining the flight department.

Many FO's have left prior to upgrading. I am happy with my decision (current 121 FO) but I would not leave if I were part of the Gateway with guys/gals going directly to jetBlue.

Great company, fun flying. Don't go there rushing to get 1,500 and leave.

Everything I've seen and heard about Cape Air tells me it's exactly the place I'd like to go to after flight instructing. I know their website says that the min is 1000TT to be hired as an FO, but I have also seen comments that they will hire with less. Does anyone know if they are currently hiring with less? I should be within 100hr by the end of the summer and am hoping to get in starting this fall/winter. I know I could always hold off applying until I have the time a month or two later, but of course I'd rather go sooner than later!

Thanks for the info... I didn't know they had a 6 mo commitment also.

Someone had mentioned this to me & this is exactly what he said.
If anyone who joined as a FO but left without completing the upgrade & 12 mo commitment, the company would mark this as a "NOT eligible for rehire" for all future employment reference check.

I want to confirm how much is it true...

I don't want to burn any bridges or leave any place on a bad note or even leave making them feel used.....

From what I was told by their HR person at a job fair, the one year contract is if they pay for your ATP. Otherwise it is a six month commitment.

So the 6 months start when you join as an FO.

Am I reading this correctly??

True^^^ Dont burn this bridge- Just ask the guys who came back in '08 & '09 after the furloughs. Its a great place to stay current and make 40k to put a bandaid on yur finances. Its also a career place for many. Its a high workload but I've never regretted startin there. All training events since Cape ATP training have been easy in comparison. Good luck guys.

Yep, agreed 100% on this. The type of flying I do now is a joke in comparison. Great place to work!

Yes. Obviously if you upgrade within 6 months after you get ATP minimums the clock will reset to a 12-month period. The other posters are correct...do not burn this bridge.

Had a phone interview the other day for an FO position. Said they would call me back in about a week or two. Is this normal for 9K or do they usually set up an interview on initial contact? The phone interview went well, was mostly HR stuff and tell us your aviation bio so far etc... Any other peoples experiences would be much appreciated!
