No, I understand your point of view, and that of generations past where the time wasn't months, but years. But in the context of now since that's what we're dealing with, I can only assume that the increase in time is due to the larger numbers being hired now than in the previous 3-5 years. And that's probably linked to some degree to both the improved pay and introducing of the RTP.

It doesn't change the fact that quick time to get off reserve is one of (not the only) driving factors when choosing a regional.

Are these times expected to decrease once the Norfolk and Philly bases are fully online?

Reserve is temporary, and currently, fleeting. Where you are based and commuting issues are MUCH more important topics.

Probably. We'll know in about three weeks when the first line awards for ORF and PHL are published. Heck, R1 awards are published long before that. Maybe someone could be convinced to post that info sooner.

Norfolk and Philly are going to be in flux for several months and probably will produce some weird stuff. If you see Jul'17 captains holding R1 lines ... that will go away.

But adding bases per se isn't likely to change the time to hold an R1 line which is a function of the company-wide number of R1 lines, the number of FO's senior to you and which one of those things changes fastest.

Plenty of people with zero jet experience have made it through just fine.

Running an 8 month average to *round 1* from DOH is nothing to complain about. And I’m like you, still sitting on the bench awaiting indoc.

Got hired with less than 29hrs of multi time and had never flown a jet. Was told “we’d like to see more multi time... but since you meet the minimums you’re hired!!”. The ATP sim time counts towards the required amount

If I can make it...

This sitting and waiting is an indication that pilot staffing is not the problem keeping PSA from growing faster. Hopefully, now that the mechanics are getting paid better, we can continue more easily on the growth trajectory.

In all fairness, it must be noted that FA pay and retention needs to seriously improve as well...
