Some of us 12-14 year military folks seem to be in this weird "too few hours to be competitive at the majors, too many hours to get a call from a regional" gray area.

I applied to everyone and have been called for an interview by only one regional... Certainly perplexing. Maybe it's that speeding ticket from 2007. Yep, it's got to be that...

PSA was my #1 regional based on domiciles.

That is a tough spot to be in. One of our chief pilots is former AF and has gotten one of his squadron buddies hired recently. Hopefully that means they like military pilots and don't think of them as too high time/jaded. Best of luck to you.

The current class has like 3 Comair guys and 1 Colgan/Pinnacle guy.

I'm positive they have quite a bit of time. They are all 34+ and have been at previous regionals for 5+ years.

the rest are 135 and CFIs.

Reserve situation is the same - spotty and to my knowledge no pilot breaks guarantee. Hot reserve, spans of not being used, (yet were short) and just know scheduling owns you.

Scheduling does own you, but I broke guarantee on reserve for the first time last month, solely bc I sat hot reserve so many times. 78.5 hrs of credit.

Don't forget all the loopholes in the new contract that scheduling has been driving trucks through... :/

The current reserves are living the dream compare to how it was before the new contract. 11 days off and getting paid to sit hot?? Schedules staying within 13 hours, not the typical 14 hours which always get pushed back to close to 15 hours.

Reserves still sucks!! and still gets abused no doubt, but it's nowhere close to how it used to be.

I have never broke guarantee on rsv. Scheduling has definitely improved with the new contract but the new contract doesnt take away the weekdays morning shift "screw pilots dynamic duo" in the scheduling dept. They will make sure you get oppposite of what you want or request.

I understand what you're saying and I completely agree. I just hate seeing things that took so long to get in this new contract get worked around because of some more vague language and seeing scheduling still being able to get away with their same dirty tricks.
