Well I think there are a few within a few miles.

I have read about the Regional Jet Training program offered by ATP and was thinking that might be a good way to get some initial jet experience before applying to an airline.

Has anyone on this board gone through this program and/or any thoughts on whether spending the $5,000 is necessary with my experience level? Any feedback is appreciated.
Just FYI, if the course is designed for a CFI with 750 hours its also for one in there 20' s whose earned 6 ratings in the last 2-5 years and flown 30-100 hours a month regularly. You could end up with a 12-4am sim slot and have long enough breaks to forget what you crammed. I am not saying you should spend 5 grand but if half of your time isnt in the last 5 years you are missing the typical new hires level of recency. Also if its been casual flying, you may want to brush up on approaches and running emergency checklists divide your attention so your not caught off guard.

Any news if PSA plans on including the ATP CTP / ATP Written for new hires?

They are working on a program. Not sure how close they are for the approval.

A few guys in my class either already had a membership or got a membership at a Planet Fitness nearby.

I feel bad for those van drivers at the Fairfield... Constantly on the move with probably no hope of a tip Lol

hard to tip a van driver that makes double what you do.

The van driver is getting paid to drive a vehicle. I'm getting paid to fly an airplane. One person gets tips for 5 minutes of work. Another doesn't get tips for hour of work.

It's not like he's there voluntarily or doing anyone a favor.

I'm not clearly depicting your point. All I was saying was that hotel has been playing host to prob 600+ pilots in the past year, and one of my biggest pet peeves is tipping a dang van driver- so if anybody else is like me they are running around burning through gas for charity

A lot of the new guys are new to airline flying and don't know about tipping. I tried to spread the word in my class but don't know how much good it did. Even on the line I'm, as the F/O, often the only member of the crew who tips the driver. Maybe half the Captains also tip but I've never seen an F/A tip.

Yet the van driver is the one who can make the difference between getting a prompt pickup or waiting an extra 20 minutes. Or the difference between getting a pickup from the restaurant in the rain or having to walk back. If they know that a particular airline always tips for rides you will get better service.
