Another thing I won't tip for is rude treatment of my crew. Many years ago, a driver complained about our complaints he was over an hour late picking us up. He started in on one of the F/As and I let him have it. I told him he would not yell at any of my crew. He could yell at me all he wanted but it would be in front of his manager or supervisor at the hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, both got an earful.
A tip is for exceptional service that goes above and beyond their job description. I'm not tipping someone to run a scheduled van to the airport on the top of the hour. Are you waiting for us when we get outside with our keys in the van? You get a tip.

What would be the best domicile to be assigned at as far as family life? Are there any domiciles that have lines that remain over night at your domicile? My hometown is a direct flight on PSA to CLT and I would plan on commuting. But if some of the lines offer more time at home I would consider moving in base to have a few more nights at home. Any thoughts?

You could just live where you are now and commute to CLT, you said the flights are on PSA so it would give you higher priority on the jumpseat and you could eventually trade for trips that overnight in your home town. To maximize time at home with the family you could move to CLT and bid for CDO lines which leave CLT late at night and come back early in the morning so you could be at home all day. Try commuting first and if you don't like it move to CLT if that works for your family.

What he said.

That said, DAY and TYS seem to both be offering a rapid rise in seniority, thus better schedules right off the bat. If you and your family wants to live in either of those areas QOL will be very high.

Continuous Duty Overnight.

Basically, depart CLT at like 9 or 10 PM, go the hotel for 4-6 hours, then an early departure back to CLT in the AM, off duty mid morning or so.

Personally, I think they suck, but some guys love them.
