I bought 2 pairs of pants (which are not REALLY required), 2 ties, and a jacket. It was a couple hundred bucks, which they spread over your paychecks the first year. After that, they give you $400 a year for uniforms.
As far as reserve goes, I was saying that I would hate to got that 5 hour 4 day since I live in base, but I can see some reserve guys not minding it. The nice part is that you are not on reserve very long (at least most people aren't). Yes, reserve sucks, but it only lasts for a couple of months.
Now if you are a prior 121 CA that upgrades ahead of more senior FO's due to the 1000 hour thing, then you can spend a lot of time on reserve. You get paid a lot more, but you will spend months on reserve.

You are required to buy some basic stuff such as pair of pants, belt, jacket($300)or blazer($150), and other stuff. If you stick to the basis, the cost will be around 400-500. if, on the other hand, get the jacket, will run around $700. Have 1.5 years to pay it off 0%. I would suggest don't over spend because the second year you get $400 free to spend.

When we were hired, we had to buy the jacket. It was not an option. And of course we were furloughed before we ever go to wear the damn thing.
There was a 45 hour overnight in CAK that was in opentime a few days ago. Not sure if that was a screw up or night. But lord knows that is way to long to be in CAK.
