Seniority is a relative number, and ordering number that compares you to your fellow pilots.

Longevity is the number of years you have been employed with your employer.

Serious question - any idea how long that person has been off of FO IOE?

It can't be more than a few months. Personally, there is no way that I would want to upgrade that quickly.

If you look at that person's background, previous experience, and type ratings, it is actually fairly impressive.

Most of the guys upgrading within a few months of getting off IOE have a ton of experience. And that's good, we need experienced CAs.

So, we are getting 3 new planes a month from here on out. That is 30 new pilots.

Can we get 30 people through IOE in a month? (both 200 and 700/900 IOE)

You need more FO's to actually increase FO staffing since any increase in captain staffing obviously draws from the FO side. 15/15 would only keep the number of FO's constant while continually adding to CA numbers. So the 25 new hires per class (50/mo) is about right factoring in washout rate, attrition, etc. in order to actually drive an increase in the total number of FO's.

I understand what you are saying, but I am just wondering if we can even meet just the new flying. Yes, we lose FO's when they upgrade to CA. But can we even get enough through IOE to cover these?

If the wait time for IOE is 2 months, there must be over 100 pilots getting paid to sit at home. Seems ridiculous.
