You can switch bases every month. There
is no limit and the contract language is
pretty clear .At my former employer we
use to call this sport bidding.

Sounds all fun and dandy but then once the company catches on, they will just make our life miserable for somehow because people took advantage of something good.

I'm looking to move down to the CLT area, anybody on here have suggestions for nice areas with under a 30 minute drive to the airport? Thanks

What would be my better option if I lived pretty much half way between Nashville and Memphis? I've thought about driving 2hrs to BNA and going to CLT? The tys base is 6hr drive. Would the BNA deal be considered a bad commute? I've read horror stories on commuting, but that seems to be with a longer commute. Could one theoretically drive up the start of the trip and fly out, then come home the ending day? Didn't know if the schedules were setup commuter friendly.

CLT 4-day trips average about 80 hours time away from base. Better ones are about 76.

If you're 2 hours from BNA, are you closer to MEM?. If so, it would make more sense to commute out of MEM so that you could have the benefit of using FedEx jumpseats as well as passenger flights.

Your initial schedules will not be very commuter friendly. Commuting to reserve at any regional is going to test your patience. In time, as your seniority improves, your schedule flexibility will improve.

Also, It is entirely likely that we may see another base open this year which could help things for commuters if it happens to be a hub base, which are by-and-large more commutable than outstation bases.

I am equidistant to MEM or BNA from where I live. Wasn't sure if the sap program would make that commute better than say a place that didn't offer sap or a place with a longer commute. Would be nice to commute in same day's for possible...?

Keep in mind USair changes their schedules frequently. With that in mind, looking at Monday MEM-CLT, there are 7 flights (four operated by PSA). Four of those flights get you to CLT by 1:30pm. There are 7 flights from CLT-MEM on monday as well. The last two leave at 8:15pm and 10:15pm. If I was in your position, I would bid for trips that show after 1:30pm, which is very doable. In that case, you could easily commute on ends of your trip from MEM to CLT. Your commute would be easy with good j/s and non-rev priority on mainline USair and PSA flights. Commuters at WO's have it far better when commuting than non-WO'd regional pilots. Four day trips are the most common and usually average 20-22 hours. A typical schedule could consist of 4-day trips equating to 14 days off and 80-88 hours of monthly pay/credit.

Hi guys,

What would be the current upgrade time in 3 months at PSA for a 121 pilot with 2500 total, 500 121 time, 1050 PIC (100 Turbine). Any word of a NYC or PHL base?
