If you signed up for the A plan med bennies, i think that is $500 month, so you see there really isn't much left. Make sure you have a war chest/guard gig/ or spousal income before becoming a regional FO.
Always opt for Plan B unless you are going to have a baby born that year. Just a little advice.

If you are a lineholder, ~$800 is correct. Half of your per diem goes towards your check on the 5th.

Perhaps someone was misled but we get lied to on a daily basis. I'd assume someone in management was wrong about this. They have no idea what we do or how we do it.
What are you smoking? Nobody is being mislead on this question.

Are you able to opt out of the health insurance plan offered by the company if your spouse has better coverage? If so, do they pass this savings on to you in your paycheck or is it a take it or leave it scenario?

If the junior upgrade is at six months, and the pendulum hasn't turned the other way yet, what happens when it gets to 4 months. Do guys waiting for IOE as an FO just bid captain and go back to training? Are non qualified Fo's eligible to bid captain?

You most certainly can opt out, i do. The only savings passed on to you are the savings of not paying for the plan.

Has that ever happened for you in the past?

If it gets to the point that new-hire FOs with the required minimums are going to upgrade only a month or two off of IOE, I think we will see direct-entry Captains. It's already close to that now so we will see what happens into 2015.

There are enough guys in the training pipeline with 1000 121 SIC to prevent street captains. The guys hired a year ago will also be upgrading.

I think the biggest problem will be to keep the training program up to speed. With over 1500 pilots on property by this summer needing recurrent, 60 new hires a month, and 30+ upgrades a month, the training department has some serious work to do to be ready for all of this. They are doing the work, but I just hope that they are ready. We need a few more 700 sims!!!
