Actually, I'm at the Clarion. Not a bad hotel and it does have shuttle service mon and fri to the grocery store. Free gym less than a mile away (shuttle will take you), Free hot breakfast and free lunch (which fairfield inn doesn't have), Heated pool if you have time. pretty cool amenities for this place. Has a restaurant down stairs too.
Ive met some people in my class already and few of them are CFI background and when I looked around it was a lot of older people too. Ill get more details later.

Your wife, or if single you can identify one person to be in that spot(I know single guys that give privileges to their siblings instead). Also your kids and your parents(not in-laws). All these travel on AA and US for free. You can get what's called "ZED" fares for many other airlines but it does cost a little (usually 10-20% of a normal ticket), and is lower form of standby.
You also get 16 one way "buddy passes" per year to be used on AA/US, which also costs money.
You, the pilot, can travel on pretty much any US airline for free.

You CAN choose in laws, but they won't fly for free. Its still a great benefit for them, however. You're correct, sir...just expounding a bit

The clarion is not too bad. The meijer next door is nice. Company 7 bbq has the best smoked wings. The hotel restaurant food is good. $1.60 draft during happy hour. And the you get the pleasure of watching the local folks do some drunk karaoke on Friday nights. We had a guy song piano man every Friday. It was glorious. Downtown Dayton is fun. Can is like $30 each way.

I interviewed 2/10. Good group of guys. 7 of us. 1 former military & Comair, a current flight instructor <1,500 hrs, a contract jet pilot, a piston night freight guy, a Caravan guy, former ExpressJet (not current), and me, a former Pinnacle guy (not current). Everyone made it through the written test and everyone stayed in their HR/CA interview portion about 20 minutes so I assume everyone got a class date offer. 4/13

After 6 months from DOH, you qualify for ZED (zonal employee discount) fares on other airlines. These cost money but are generally pretty cheap. I think dallas to Sydney on quantas is $100 which is on the high end of ZED fares (if you want to be in coach on a 17 hour flight :-/

Travel benefits start after day 16 in ground. You Your spouse and kids fly domestic for free. If you're not married, A "travel companion" costs you 3.5% of the value of the ticket as imputed income tax (IRS thing). Parents pay about $75 for a 4 leg round trip to most destinations but that does vary. You can designate combination of any two parents to include biological parents, step parents, and parents in law...updated annually. All of the above is on any AA or US branded flight. Flying internationally is also possible but you have to pay taxes on the ticket, which are almost all US entry taxes. Cheap places to go are about $60, London is on the high side at $150 I think.

Don't forget, your parents travel on a higher priority level than Mesa, Air Wisconsin, Skywest and Republic pilots. Your parents would even have higher priority over a Mesa pilot on a "American Eagle operated by Mesa" flight.
