You are mis-interpreting something.

You can't just "choose" to have a build up. You need to have the seniority to hold it.

If everyone could just select a build up there'd be no reserves.

If sufficient open time remains after the award of build-up schedules
constructed in accordance with paragraphs A.7.a. and b., above, the
Company will construct additional build-up schedules within the above
parameters. These schedules will be awarded to pilots in order of
seniority who have indicated a preference for a build-up schedule over a
reserve schedule in the Round Two bid. The additional build-up schedule
will replace the reserve schedule the pilot would have been awarded.

Right, I am aware of the language but you are still not understanding what it says.

That section is referring to "additional build-ups." There may only be one of them, or two if you are lucky, or maybe none.

If there is an additional build-up it is awarded to the most senior reserve pilot that selected that option while bidding.

You can't just choose to not be on reserve. If you are #49 of 50 pilots in round 2 and there are 15 build-ups you aren't going to receive any additional build-ups. You will be on reserve regardless of which option you selected while bidding.

Well, I was an 11/10 hire and finished IOE on 4/2 and was only the 2nd person to get called in my class.

March 11th but had about a week between my 200 trips. 2nd 200 trip was followed closely by 7/900 trip.

There are still a few in the 10.13 class who haven't finished yet, but most of those were impacted by the little PRIA mess they had.
