For what it's worth, I'll be in the 4/13 class and will have a 4-door car or an SUV. I would be happy to drive some folks around, too. Maybe I'll put a cup out for tips, but if anyone is worried about the shuttle, I'll be happy to help out with transportation.

Default SAP & Days off

I've spoken to a few PSA pilots and they tell me you can get 19-21 days off. I'm trying to figure out how. Maybe a current PSA pilot (or two) could help. I know you can SAP your schedule down but you have to have 65 hours of flying at a minimum. In looking at the lines for the last couple of months it looks like most 4-day trips are worth about 20 hours on average and the 3-day trips are worth 12-13 hours of credit.

Not to be contradictory, but it sounds like you'd need (3) 4-day trips and a 2-day or 3-day. That adds up to 14-15 days of flying and 14-15 days off in a 30-day month. That's not significantly different from lots of other regionals. Please tell me my math ain't right. LOL!

Whoever said 19-21 is kind of wrong. I average 12 days but credit 95. You can get 16 days off and credit 75 or drop to 65 and probably have 18-19 days off but that's making no money. Then again on first year pay it doesn't even matter lol.

Yes....I was taking pay totally out of the equation. I was purely talking days off. Looking at March & April lines at TYS & CLT I just can't make the numbers add up to get that many days off....for anybody...much less a junior FO. Maybe my math is wrong?

Well 65 is with being able to sap or if reserve grid is green enough in FCFS if I'm not mistaken. Sap you need to be a round one lineholder.

Yes....I understand. Just asking for someone to check my math and tell me that I'm wrong - for a round one line holder.

There are some 25-29 hours four day trips so if you got a couple of those you could get 21 days off, it all depends on what is on your line and what you can swap for during the SAP. 19 days off is better than 99.9% of other regional pilot schedules. I have only had that (non vacation months) many days off in a month a few times over my 10 year regional career.

2 years ago, I was upset if I didn't have 19-20 days off per month with 72 hour guarantee(senior Envoy CA). Now I am lucky to see 16. Very lucky. Last month I had 15. Junior CAs have min days (11). Nuts what this industry has turned into. It was supposed to be about time off. One pretty much needs to be single to get into this racket now.

Let's just hope those 28 hour 4 days keep coming. If they want to solve a staffing issue then give us these efficient 4 days or higher credit 3 days, not the 7 hour credit 4 days I see in opentime. How are reserves under the consolidation period supposed to get their time when they are wasting their days with those kind of trips?

^This.

And on the other hand, everyone whines and bickers about the low pay and the working conditions - yet, some are happy to game the system, have almost 3 weeks off per month, and still get minimum pay and benefits.

This is another reason why management doesn't feel like they need to change anything in the current model, because on the other side of the spectrum, pilots take just as much advantage of the situation as well.
