I do not believe that we have the ability to change our deadhead seat assignment, like I was able to do in my previous job working United Express Flights. If we can, I would love to hear how.

I haven't tried to do it, but I've heard from some people that if you do get the confirmation number, you can go in and change the seats using the usairways app.

Depending on the gate agent, they will look out for you. I was originally assigned to DH in last row seat next to someone on a 200. When I got to the gate, the gate agent moved me to the first row with an empty seat next to me. Be nice to the gate agents, they will be nice to you.

They'll also tell you to take it and that you can kick someone who is jumpseating off because you're positive space, another thing you shouldn't do.
Then, they'll call the tower and make you speak to their supervisor, in which he will beg then attempt to belittle and intimidate you into taking it.
Yes, it happened to me last month.
So let me get this straight. They told you that you could kick someone out of the jump seat because you are positive space? That is completely false. But I think you knew that already. And the fact they had you talk to a supervisor is very unprofessional. I would have filed a few complaints about that. Gate agents are clueless.
