Revenue pax come first, free rides to another airline.. second.

If I have to bump another jump seater, the gate agent will do it.

Sounds like you'll not give up a seat in the back and sit upfront for a few hours so a fellow non-rev can come along too right?

Of course I mean where there is not someone on the jumpseat.

And if you think that the passengers do not actually want to get to their destination, you are missing something. Most people that are flying actually want to get somewhere. It is not the passengers fault that our company sucks and books 52 people on an airplane that only holds 50, or books 50, and then bumps a paying passenger off to accommodate a "must fly" crew member.

Some people need to get to where they are going in a timely fashion. I choose to help occasionally, when I can. If you do not want to, that is your choice. If it can be done without kicking someone off of the jump seat, I will consider it.

There are people that make this world a better place, and people who make this world a worse place. Pick which one you want to be on a given day and go with it.

I agree. If no one else is listed for the JS, by all means take it. And I am fully aware that revenue passengers want to get to their destination. And again,I am not sure why people think a must ride can bump someone from the JS. The JS has nothing to do with must rides. They are listed in the cabin. Most CA's I know will not allow a must ride in the JS, especially if someone else is listed for it.

No, I'm a normal person. I don't kick jumpseaters who are already present out of the jumpseat so I can sit there while giving my space positive seat to a customer. Customers who get bumped are compensated with free travel. Airlines can stop over selling flights is another option, something I cannot control.

It's a common courtesy not to take jumpseat as a must ride if you suspect that there might be an offline jumpseater. If it's empty and the flight overbooked by one then sure you can be a nice person and get an extra passengers on. Like above post mentioned, for the right amount of travel credit and depending on when the next flight is, there will always be a handful of passengers willing to give up their seats.

Hmmm.... My guess....

Increased, but in stages. Real increases start in 12 months. The Critical Coverage Pay arbitration will be partially sacrificed, but not sure to what extent. It is not a "win-win" scenario, but it will look shiny from the outside in order to keep new pilots coming in the door.

I can also see some sort of retention for Check Airmen and training instructors. With a flow, you keep the airline costs down, but you sacrifice the experience of the instructors and those that have been at an airline for years. There will be something that will help mitigate this.

We "MAY" see some more flying in the next 4-5 months in order to keep new pilots coming in the door, or at least prevent them from going to competitors.

Your thoughts?

Similar. I believe they will increase it. They will have to in order to attract people. Yes I understand it's easy to poach from other regionals especially non wholly owned but if they don't like senior pilots hence pay caps then absorbing us into AA will help with that. It saves them money rather than paying senior captains their salary. I think cost savings is better that way.

Would you rather have a majority of 4-6 year captains or 8-12 year captains?? Ie a junior pilot group or senior pilot group.

Anyone know where IOE is currently? What class? Are we gaining any new check airmen?
