I think hangar space and maintenance superseded what would be desirable for pilots, but I agree maybe they were hoping for some kind of comair turnout. I think though adding more bases might be a bad thing, imagine all the dead heading. Schedules would get worse. Airplanes would have to be pulled out of existing bases as more cannot be crewed.

I see that Piedmont is now offering "immediate upgrade" to anyone who has 1000 hours of 121 SIC,....... in addition to the $15,000 hiring bonus.

PSA now has a LOT of F/O's with 1000 hours of 121 SIC and no upgrade in sight. I wonder if any of our F/O's will jump ship and head over to PDT to fly (PIC) in those snazzy EMB-145s. And I wonder if PDT will ACCEPT new hires from either of the other two AAG wholey-owneds.

PDT will accept any NH from PSA/Envyo. You know like PSA accepted envoy pilots.

That is part of the whipsaw game...

Seems like a risky move to lateral to another WO. If consolidation happens in a year or two, you'd be losing a lot of seniority.

Their bases aren't any better and there's no garuantee you'll get the 145. No offense to the Dash but it's going away so why would you risk getting it and going through training again. Also, their training program is struggling. Maybe after things smooth out.

That all depends on how long you've been at PSA. Also, lose seniority as a "senior" FO or lose it as a Jr CA? CA pay is CA pay.

Miami is a different story, I think AAG wants and need 175 down in FL. So I expect to envoy (MAYBEEEEEEEEEE, a big maybe) to open a MIA base. If not they will continue to use crews around the sistem.

Envoy used to have a lot of bases, but we were a 3,200 pilot company. Now below 2,000 I dont think that any WO company could have more than 3 bases and be able to focus on all of them.

Also, ORD is a hard commute, doesn't matter where you live. It would be easier in term of legs, but not in terms of getting a seat to work, specially in high season.
ORD will go to whomever gets the Envoy 700s... If PSA can staff and AAG continues the transfer of them to us, then we will open ORD. If someone else like SkyWest or Air Wisconsin get them, well you see where I'm going with this. Either way, I think Envoy's 700s aren't going to be flown by Envoy pilots and ORD as an Envoy base is in question over the next couple years. I could see them reshuffling flying and reopening MIA though. Now that would make sense.

As far as FOs jumping ship to CA positions at Envoy, if I had my 1,000 121 SIC and was here at PSA less than 1.5 or maybe 2 years I'd definitely give it a shot. What would you have to lose? You would probably flow quicker if that was your goal, and you would be earning TPIC. Not the golden egg it once seemed to be, but very valuable nonetheless.
