I'm guessing I just need to find a place to crash for that few months of reserve. It looks like CVG and CLT are my best commute options.
No, you would know a few days prior to the month starting. The 24th maybe is when the rd 2 award comes out? I forget but it's around there somewhere.

New Guy here again. Can you gentlemen tell me how the ATP-CTP Course is from the Company? I mean I was thinking about studying for the written and all and wondered if there is a lot of home-work or if it's all done in the classroom. Thanks ahead of time for you consideration.

From what I have been told, the class is great and gives you additional time in the CRJ sim at the beginning of training which is very helpful.

The course does not prepare you for the written, that is something that you have to prepare for on your own. I would suggest studying before the class. I believe most people use Sheppard Air to study.

the atp ctp is just a bridge class for transition to 121 jet flying. the feds require it but it does not prepare you for the written.

Thanks! I found out about the not preparing you for the written a little late, but I hope to pass it. You guys are a great resource.

A few years ago, when the ATP was being changed and the CTP course was being developed, everyone was running out to take the ATP written before the cutoff date. Private pilots were taking it with 50 hours of flight time, just so they would have it done. It isn't hard if you put the effort in.

They all just studied the Sheppard Air course for a few days and took the test. All of the questions are on there. Just use the study guides. Only look at the right answers. Don't even look at the wrong ones. You will be fine.

Guys in new hire class is seniority based on your age or social security number or random selection?

That seniority policy is good for me, I'm an old geezer...
Wife made me flash cards so I can learn all the numbers for the planes that we're supposed to know upon arrival. Time's short as I'll be departing in 1.5 days. I'll be rolling up my sleeves and ready to get dumped on starting Monday. (Oct 24 class).

A word of advice.

Try to get in class before January 1st. If you are in class during the holidays, you will get a few days off for Thanksgiving and Christmas. By next year at this time, you will be a line holder and will be able to SAP those days off. So, you will never have to work those holidays at PSA (unless you bid upgrade early and may be on Captain reserve).

Second, if you start class in 2016, you will get 2 weeks of vacation in 2017. Even if your class date is December 19th, you will get 2 weeks of vacation to use in 2017. That is a great benefit.
