I think as of today, if you are prior FAR 121 (with the required time) then Piedmont, Commutair offer the quickest upgrade?

I think PSA help, that most of the regionals were not going to retain or attract pilots without all the bonuses now. All the contracts were rubbish and now we have commuting clauses etc etc... They can and will take them away if the classes keep filling up which with all the hiring, just seems impossible to me. I do not believe that the regionals can find enough, as there isn't enough people, to fill all the classes and or upgrade quickly. Even PSA had DECs and I can see it happening again unless you merge in Air Willy.

Now as far as link in concerened, or anyone for that matter, going somewhere with the quickest command is the best idea, IMHO, as you will have DECs junior to you, the second you hit 1000 121, you should get a command and dare I say, you can get credits like Endeavor gives so you might not have to wait for the 1000 hours. I just think for link, PSA is not the best choice. Again, nothing against PSA. These forums are for ideas, information and advice.

This is just my two cents. All the best.

Probably, but that changes overnight. Once enough PDT FOs get 1000 hours SIC, they will start upgrading. That will slow things down quite a bit.

Those are just the facts. Military is quite favored as everyone knows. Being an FO for two plus years will stall you for two plus years. The Yankees want the big leaguers now not two years from now. This is assuming you want to play for the Yankees and not the Toledo Hounddogs.

Lol when I hear people say this. How many guys don't we all know who already have TPIC time and are still sitting left seat at their regional?

Getting a quick upgrade and 1,000 TPIC time doesn't guarantee you anything. If it were only that easy. I'm just saying tons of guys are constantly chasing the same thing. Quick upgrade and hit the "big leagues" as you claim. Yet, they are still waiting in line for a phone call just like the other thousand of qualified applicants who meet the same criteria as them. If it works out that you upgraded and got hired at a major, great. However, if it doesn't you'll upgrade and sit left seat for a while just waiting. In that time you could've upgraded and had a better QOL elsewhere but yet you chose the same route as many others before you did....

"The Yankees" have proven they don't always want big leaguers as tons of FOs are getting hired without ever sitting in the left seat. Think about that for a moment...

Except that if you read my post, he is retired military. My point is based on that fact alone. No need to LOL.

I watched a guy get called two weeks after the 737 type by a major. I had a lot more boxes checked than he did except for military. I am not bitter as its been this way since WW2 and being that he served our country, think he deserves it.

Advice is offered from many people and he will choose his own path, just like Buddah.

Default Time to Command?

If you have 121 experience and a couple of thousand hours on turboprops etc, are you still looking at 18 months to upgrade at PSA, or can seniority bypass occur?

The eligible pilots (those that have the hours) that are bidding for the position are selected in seniority order. So, there are eligible pilots that choose to stay FOs and are making their own decision to bypass upgrade. Ultimately, it's the pilots decision to bypass not the companies.

Yes, PSA's SAP offers an unparalleled QOL at the regional level with regards to being able to adjust one's schedule. Let's not forget all the wonderful hours of time off the clock ensuring our pay is correct and then multiple attempts to get it right. Reserve grid manipulation which has an ongoing arbitration where there seems to be no near end.

I'm not a PSA naysayer and I'm no cheerleader. Just trying to keep it real, if PSA is the right place for you welcome aboard but if there's a better regional fit WRT commute and you are coming here for a quick upgrade and SAP; you will probably regret that decision 3 years from now. It's still a regional, get in, get it done, and move on as soon as you can!!!

This guy has no 121 time. The places you mentioned may be a better fit for him(other than GoJet) but if they are a better fit, it won't be due to upgrade time.

Any new-to-121 pilot right now is going to have similar upgrade times regardless of where they go.
