Not a huge deal breaker but from what I've read and heard having a one leg commute ups QOL a good bit and gives you a much better chance of getting to base on time.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but in a worst case scenario if I get on a PSA flight I can sit jump seat; weather it's in the cockpit or an FA spot. But if it's another carrier I'm basically just flying standby and would have to have a regular passenger seat.
Right now, CLT is very junior - a month or two maximum.

You can sit in the cockpit jumpseat on any airline, but pilots do not sit in FA jump seats (I know some that have, but it is not normal).

PSA pilots commute on the jumpseat on Delta/United/SouthwestJetBlue flights all the time, and we have their pilots on our airplanes all the time as well. You can also ride on FedEx, UPS, and just about anyone else. AA has agreements with just about everyone in the US, and we have the same benefits as AA.

Thanks for the info that's good to know. I've flow in a part 91 flight department for years, I'm still trying to get a handle on the ins and outs of the 121 world. I never thought I would fly for the regionals but it's becoming too lucrative to overlook now days.

Yes it is likely to be changed. Just because its contractual doesn't mean it is set in stone. Contracts can change. But more to your question of "is it going to go away?" I don't think so. If anything happens it's likely going to increase to something like Envoy or PDT. 25% of new hires per year for Envoy, PDT, PSA, and off the street. With a restriction of 1 person flowing per 125 on property.

This is correct. We were told that the company will meet with the pilots again about increasing the flow.

Plus, for every 62 captains we add, we increase the flow by 1.

I would guess that all 3 of the WO will have similar flow agreements once they stabilize in size and the 824 leave Envoy.

Management is reactionary. Once we lose 50+ pilots a month to other companies for a few months, they will realize that the flow is really a retention tool, not a recruitment tool and change it accordingly.

As it stands, there is no incentive to stay at PSA when a LCC calls. But if we had a good flow, less people would leave for elsewhere.

Anyone know how many active captains there were Jan 1, 2016? I'm guessing we have less now than we did then. We are finally upgrading at a somewhat steady pace now, but are continuing to lose a good amount with and without the flow each month. I don't see there ever being a gain of 62.

MEC said -4 from where we were in January which I think was around 530.

Correct. However I believe we are going to be upgrading a steady 15-20 /month now. So depending on attrition, we should reach an additional 62 CAs by the early summer 2017, and yet another 62 by the end of 2017. All depends on just how much attrition we have and whether or not we can keep up with both hiring and training. I think we will do it.

Heard from someone in fleet planning. AAG will resume transferring the 700s in February/March at 2 to 3 /month and we are supposed to announce "a new base" (DCA) around that time too, perhaps in January. Beyond that, options for the remaining 900s are a "remote possibility" but that's "too far in the future" to plan for right now.
