Quick luggage question:
I bought the Travel Pro FlightCrew5 Pilot bag, and (as long as I don't pack heavy) it fits fine in the overheads of the 7/900, but the extra external pockets (which are nice) hang-up a little bit even when not utilized, and it doesn't fit at all in the 200 overheads... Had to send it below and keep an eye on it to get it back onboard every leg in the 200, which was not ideal, especially on quicker turns.
Any advice on which bags (LuggageWorks or otherwise) fit in ALL our planes?
I really like this TravelPro bag, but, like I said, I would like one that just works with no oversight involved.

Can somebody that is still flying for the Guard or Reserves please shoot me a PM or explain on here how the process works for your duty days. I know my drill weekends a year in advance but what about the AFTP's? Any issues with scheduling?

We have a large number of reserve/guard pilots. It is never a problem. They just send an email to scheduling and the CPs, and they get the time off.

I completely agree. It is the industry standard for a reason. The last thing that you want is some cheap bag breaking on a trip and you having to carry your clothes in a garbage bag for 2 days (actually saw someone do this).

A great number of people seem to think those bags are not nearly worth the money anymore, so I took a gamble on a discounted bag... I'd also like to point out that seems to be very sturdy and durable, and I prefer the aesthetics over LW and Strongbags.
That being said, I will also not lose money on this one, as I already have a buyer lined-up... I appreciate the input on the size and fit of the LW bags. It seems I may just have to bite-the-bullet and grab one.

I do see a lot of guys with those, now that I'm actually on the line flying. This is something that you can't really press to test until you're out in the job. The dimensions of a bag on a website may not jive with what you're dealing with in real life. To be fair, I did a lot of research (minus asking about differences in overhead bin sizes between the models of CRJ, which I didn't know/think would be an issue), and came across a multitude of opinions concerning LuggageWorks.

on my second lw bag. the first i had for almost ten years. less wear because i flew 135. but when i retired it, it was working just fine. i just wanted to burn some of my uniform allowance. i got the newer lw bag with the narrower metal bits, and the black handle, its holding up just great, that being said i dont commute.
best of luck, i like the lw product, but keep in mind just because its made of metal, doesn't mean you should deliberately treat it like a tank.
