Tall flyer and some others have stated that with dca being the most Jr base, people can/are getting it out of training.

Yep, but DAY and CVG aren't far behind. I'm also pleased to see the drop in CLT and TYS as well.

Think 25 was the number I heard.

From a soon to be new guy: I live in Lynchburg, VA. Should be an easy 1 leg commute to CLT or a 3:30 drive to DCA. Is the quick R1 worth the drive or reserve and the easy commute?

A 3:30 hour drive will take less time than a 1 leg commute in almost every instance, although that is a long drive.

Personally, I would rather drive to base than to sit in my home airport for an hour, then fly for 45 mins, just to sit in base for 4 hours before my show time.

But, it is up to you. You can change your base bid pretty quickly, so you have some time to decide. Reserve time in CLT is falling. With 25 upgrades a month, it won't be long until reserve is just a few months.

All of this. Personally the way I looked at it was I wanted shortest reserve with fastest path to Rd1 and a decent commute so that made Anywhwre but TYS/ CLT the best fit for me. I want CLT and the way things are going I should be able to have it by the end of the year possibly the middle of fall to be a line holder. Don't live the reserve life if you don't have to

I apologize if this is the wrong thread, but with the good mix of experience in here I figured it was a good place to ask; is there a general recommendation/understanding that guys go through interview prep services (such as emerald coast or flytheline) prior to interviews? I have no doubt that these programs would improve anyone, but between developing and rehearsing my answers on the gouges I've seen, should I be concerned that without these $400-500 courses I have no chance of being hired?

If you are applying at a major, they are worth it (and expected).

For a regional, absolutely not.

Just be yourself and answer truthfully.
